Default New to MI - Looking for Mechanic (Dearborn)

Hey guys,

Just moved to MI recently and I'm in need of a new mechanic.
I do most of the work on my car myself but both my track car and my DD need some attention.

I'm currently living in Dearborn but I don't let that keep you from posting businesses in other areas. I'm about 20 minutes from RO and 30 from AA.

Need
- Trust Worthy
- Fair prices

Want
- Experience with track cars, custom alignments, touchless tire mounting.

Oakos in Sterling Heights specialize in WRX and STI's.

Totally agree!
Oakos is great, only place I take my 2006 WRX Wagon.
I recommend them for anything and everything if I could. Only place I would take my car.

Thanks for the info guys.

Where do you take your other cars (if any)? Sterling Heights is about 25 minutes away which isn't bad. I'm hoping there's a general shop closer (I'm off Michigan Ave (M12)) for just the everyday stuff.

Oakos might have some experience with track cars otherwise most guys here in Mi do everything themselves.

Thanks guys.

The track cars are non-Subaru content lol (Mazda and BMW).

So other than Oakos, no one can recommend a general all purpose mechanic/shop?

FWIW, I work at the Farmington hills Mazda dealer, will work with you on alignments etc. I'm a tech there, have done custom alignments before, and aftermarket parts installs (braided lines, pads, wheels, intake, all on rx8s and MS3s) not a problem.

Steve,
Thanks for posting. You will likely see my car at some point in the spring for an alignment!

Cheers!

Jeff,
Sweet, just ask for me to work on your car. In fact I just did a '99 MX5 this week too, customer was very specific on his setup, I was very happy he had been soaking everything in PB Blaster for the last 2 weeks!

I'm in Dearborn. I guess I should start looking seriously into opening SKUNKW3RX as a "real" shop. (one of my business dreams...)

--- but seriously ---

Darryl Butler of Butler Garage in Romulus works on Subaru's. He's got a beautiful '05 STi that he tracks on occasion. I pretty sure he doesn't do alignment stuff but he's a member here (can't remember his SN though), is local, is a super good guy and is fair on pricing. He installed some stuff on my fiancé's Mazdaspeed6.
