replacing factory speakers in my 04 wrx wagon
Just ordered a Nakamichi Mb-Vi for my head unit and was wondering any recommendations on replacing all of the factory speakers. Recommended speakers and place to buy. Thanks in advance.

well go with whatever brand you preffer. You can fit 6.5", i did in my 04 wrx sedan. Just keep in mind you have to make/buy a spacer for the front speakers. so the thicker magnet you get the bigger spacer required, and u might not be able to properly clip the door panel back on without it hitting th speaker. I have that prob so i left the bottom of my door panel loose.

Go with 6.5s in the front, and 5.25s in the rear. You'll need the spacers from IA Performance. I got Memphis speakers for my wagon - great sound quality but not too expensive.

First, I bought the Boston Acoustics Pro60 (6.5") for the front and didn't like them because they were too bright. So, then I bought some Diamond Audio Hex S600S (the 2nd S is for silk tweeter as opposed to aluminum S600A). Still too bright in the mid/hi. So, I concluded that both speakers were fine and it was the interior of the car that was contributing to the "brightness". I can recommend both speakers if you have an EQ to "tone them down". You will need the spacers for either, but both fit nicely in stock locations.

If you have the "upgraded" factory speakers then you already have spacers in the front doors for mounting 6-1/2's. If you have the base speakers they are 5-1/4 and you will have to get aftermarket adapters or make some. Keep an eye on the speaker depth as not all will fit. Crutchfield has a good guide for fitment.
