That would be where the "having class" comes in.

No, high school kids are much more mature than most of the people in here.

So pointing out her physical shortcomings is not 'bullying'. Yet in the bullying thread that is the substance of why many people get bullied in the first place. I understand that OT has the consistency of watered down milk...but this is just comical.

It's not something I would have written in a million years, but it's also light years away from "bullying".
I saw that video via my FB feed after a few friends commented on it. I watched it, expecting her to go OT style on the sender. I was sadly disappointed.

I don't think the context of the email was harassing or even demeaning. It was painful truth. Had he used derogatory names, slurs, or included a Happy Meal toy then yes I would consider it bullying. Simply pointing out that someone is not necessarily fitting for a role model position is a bit underwhelming in the bullying hall of fame.

role model position for what? A fitness show?

She's delivering the news, not workout advice.

Maybe she's a role model because she's good at her job.

Bullying is not usually the message, it's in the presentation and delivery of said message.

So now newscasters are role models ? I hope not. They are nothing more then talking heads, most of them are probably dumber then the people in General. Plus what kid watched the news and says 'I want to be just like her.' None.

He ostracized her from her peers based on a physical issue. If this isn't bullying then I'm not sure what is. So it is ok to make fun of poor or ugly or physically handicapped kids in school as long as the words you use aren't derogatory ?

I thought most people in here were on the idea of 'care about yourself and leave everyone else the **** alone.' What business is it of his to even care one iota about what this random news lady looks like. You don't like her looks, change the ****ing channel and move on...but to go out of your way to purposely point out what is already obviously clear to her and everyone else just makes you an ass...

Bull****. Bullying comes in all forms from horribly vulgar and crass to smart-assesd and well spoken. A box of **** is still a box of **** even if it was gift wrapped at Tiffany's...

I think you underestimate how much kids, and I think of today, especially, want to be on TV. Somewhere, right now, I'll bet a hondo that there are thousands of kids who would like to be the talking head on TV.

I totally completely and wholeheartedly disagree. Particularly when pertaining to somebody's weight, which is something that can be altered.

So these are equivalent to you?

"Your friends and I have all gotten together and agreed that we feel bad that you continue to struggle with your weight. I know it's hard to try to make a big change in your life, but you are headed down the road to an early death"

and

"Lose some weight fatty"

To kids anyone on tv is famous or looked at as some celebrity I can guarantee you that.

And insulting someone in a formal fashion is not threatening or being a bully. Talk about pussification. How dare you be allowed to speak the truth!!

So do these kids want to be on TV because of the fame or because of the idea that you can help inform and affect your community through honest journalism and well thought out information ? Even then, she's not a gym teacher, she's not a health coach, she's not a Nurse, she's not a Nutritionist, she's not running weekly specials on healthy eating, etc... Her weight has zero bearing on her ability to deliver the news and still be a positive role model for her community.

Most newscasters that are Men are probably overweight, where is the vitriol against them ?

If you think kids nowadays are watching network news, you're delusional.

I must have missed the part where that guy was part of her life and was just looking out for her best interests.
