battery recommendation
My stock battery is dying.
In previous cars I've just gone to autozone or advance auto parts and picked something off the shelf. Is there anything better than what these stores offer? What's a good replacement? Where can I buy it Thanks!

Yellow top optima in the RS with the oontz
Hawker Odyssey PC680 in the RSTi to save weight. Started it up yesterday for the first time in 3 weeks of cold and it started just fine. This is winter #2 for the PC680. For every-day use, I recommend an optima Red top. They have very low internal resistance and make for a great starting battery. -- Dave |

What's the intended purpose of the battery? Just to start your car? You have a honking stereo like Dave or myself? Are you trying to save weight?
To start the car, Interstate Any of the batteries below from the Stereo section For Stereo Exide Orbital (what I'm running) Optima Yellowtop (not a fan myself) Optima Redtop (again, not a fan myself) ANYTHING from Kinetik Odyssey Batteries Lightweight Braile (oh god please don't do this to your car) Odyssey Buscher (pretty much just an Odyssey) Smaller Kinetiks (what I'd run personally) Keep in mind that MANY of these batteries will require replacing something like your starter cable as you really shouldn't cut it loose to get the extra distance to make it fit. That can be a serious safety hazard as it's a very large wire, not fused and designed for high amperage loads. In other words if something goes funky prepare to kiss your car goodbye. |

Lightweight would be nice, but how long will it last and will it start up when really cold outside? Something durable and weighing less than stock would be nice. |

I'd go with a mini Odyssey or a mini Kinetik. Both will give you more than enough power to start the car even when cold out and should last you a few years as well.
