Default newbie audio questions

just got my 2016 impreza base 2.0 non turbo -
got my wheels and suspension upgrades figured out thanks to this forum!

now on to audio.

I don't need top of the line, but want some thoughts.

AMP not recommended for original speakers true or false?
I was looking at a future speakers upgrade, but was gonna start with a sub, which requires and amp and maybe another fuse? I see subaru sub hideaway for up to 15' models for $200ish, or a kicker amp/sub combo for $200ish.
I would just like a little boost.
Or wire up one sub for front and one for rear??

I'd start with wiring the sub to the rear speakers 1st. I always liked to hear it from the rear side of the car, vs the front. Keep the mids and lows in the back has been my preference.
I'm keeping the original HU, too much fuss!
Also this is a 4 speaker system, but it looks like there may be tweeter up front on the dash near the windshield, am I wrong?

Or do I splurge on the O+ system for 1k that enhances my OEM speakers and comes with a complete kit?

id say start with upgrading speakers and possibly an amp if you want. Look at my post about amp recommendations as I am currently in the process of selecting an amp.

sounds good, I picked out some JBL speakers. 6.5 front and 5.25 rear I think those are correct.

AMP is next doing a 4 channel +1 for the sub...sub will be last.

amp should be first, the stock headunit doesnt have enough power to run the stock speakers let alone power sucking aftermarket speakers.

Isn't the headunit the same bezel/setup as the WRX. Honestly a simple swap will do wonders for the stock speakers. A set of the two way "premium" speakers someone has taken out might be an upgrade. I am not a fan of wiring amps to stock headunit a using the basic BS line connections. There are really good devices to add an amp.
