Thanks for the kind words.

For what it's worth, I didn't mean for that post to sound depressing and wasn't looking for attention. I'm not saying anyone thought that, however after reading it again, it felt like that to me.

Anyway, I have very little experience of management experience. But yeah, I should try that. I'm in the local Walmart quite often, and I see the same asst. mngr / mngr's everytime.

Job Series: Computer Scientist 1550
Official Title: VoIP Administrator (for a site of ~5,900 users, 13,200 devices, only 2 of us)
Other unofficial Job duties: Server/Linux Admin, Routing/Switching/Firewalls/NAC/Cabling, Secure Phone's, Project manager, VoIP Engineer of various sorts on various projects

My job is getting so out of hand the last 3 months that I'm getting my resume up to date and hopefully going private sector soon. Way too much stress to have to do literally 8-10 peoples jobs and give weekly reporting on about 15 different projects (not exaggerating). The aforementioned "duties" aren't my job whatsoever but since I've learned how to do them people lean on me to further the projects along.

Why I ever took a federal gov't job as my first career job is beyond me. At least as a contractor you can always say "not within the scope of my contract". I should begin drooling at my desk and aimlessly wander the hallways/parking lot alike 95% of the other civilians here then maybe I won't get tasked with anything requiring responsibility.

Don't see people chiming in here with answers like...

I'm a super successful ___.

I'm a top-ranked ____.

But anyway, that's very cool to get to work on projects like that.
Hahaha, I kinda knew you was pulling my leg. I looked it up and it wasn't listed there on CB so I thought maybe this dude is really clueless. :P

Thanks! It's really hard work and I wish it could be fun like it used to be. Nowadays since producers and directors have this immense power to warp reality, they have become a royal pita with last minute changes on shorter time schedules.

I used to work for Radioshack Corporate as a Product Evaluation Technician (basically Quality Assurance). We got to break products, playing with toys, playing video games and watching movies, among lots of boring reports on each product, oh and to make sure the products were safe for consumers and that the products were within spec for local and national regulations (toys without lead, mercury and cadmium in them, and much more for the various product types.)
I got to deal with some equipment that would instantly kill a person if handled improperly while a product was being tested, one was the Ground Bond test (I don't remember the details of the test). The other test is a HiPot test (not quite as deadly), we would apply a voltage of over 2000 volts to power strips. You can google the test if you want more details.

Sadly, I got laid off in 2014 and have been unemployed ever since. McDonalds, Walmart, Taco Bell, etc doesn't even want me :|
Because I have a degree in computers/IT and electronics technology, I've applied for Google, Facebook, Intel, AMD, Best Buy, Sony, Microsoft, TTI, IBM, Amazon and many other tech companies. I've also applied to more than 15 different game devs for level design including Bethesda, GearBox, ID Software. All of these companies and so many more without success.

So what do I do for a living?

My grandparents health isn't so good. My grandfather is legally blind with macular degeneration, so of course he can not drive anymore. My Grandmother is mostly okay, but she tires out easily and doesn't feel safe driving distances over 5 or 6 miles.
So I drive them to where they need to go and help them around the house and what-not and they help pay most of my bills, which I hate that they do that. They just don't want my credit ruined due to me being unemployed.
I've always called and found out the name of the hiring manager. When possible, I walk in and introduce myself, super quick and friendly cause I know they're busy. I've also called to follow up, same thing, be quick and don't take much of their time. The persistence has paid dividends.
If you aren't doing that already, it's worth a shot. Also, go to a temp agency. They do know of permanent positions. You can also get some experience in other fields, leading to something permanent, that you wouldn't get by applying on your own.
It's tough out there. I've resorted to bar tending and serving when I'm desperate. I'm not discounting either of those positions, F&B just isn't the path for me. However, cash in hand every night can come in handy. Good luck, something will develop.
