Default Who here knows how to make a 16yr old scooter run?

Me, thats who. I'm a scooter mechanic! Whooo!!
It hadn't been used in about .... 4 years, and I made it run, with hours of my time and my careful touch and help from a few friends and kindly local "house of handlebars" in signal hill.
It helped that it was a Honda, those things are great. Now it needs tires, a brake cable spacer thingie, brake levers, paint job, and new vinyl on the seat. And I have to put my neons in. Serious.

I hope the thread title doesnt make me sound like a deviant bum who chases 16 year olds while they ride their scooters...

what kind? I've got an '87 elite 80, and it's pretty easy to work on...i'm guessing you'll throw the belt soon if it hasn't been run...the rubber is probably rotten

Its an 86 elite 80! Whitish in color.
The rubber looked fantastic, its like the thing was in a time isolation machine (except for the bodywork). It probably got a new belt soon before it was retired the first time.

No, its not easy, its really hard!! Hard hard hard! No one but us two can do it, so don't even try! Easy, why would you say such a thing?

Ok so I only have a monkey wrench and a half broken pair of pliers. And sand paper.

Anyways I guess I'll epoxy the belt on so it won't come off.

PS I got both carb cleaner and a high velocity chunk of cutting disk in my eye today, and I'm better for it.

I like the vibration of a smoothly running scooter. I like how it REGISTERS through my glutes. I'm sure you're feeling ecstatic after WORKING ON IT.

I was thinking the same thing. That pic is perfect! Man, google.

that elf scooter is radical, i can't believe it has nearly 30hp. It looks like he did more than replace gaskets! They don't make an exhaust for my scoot.

It's not a moped!

I'm off the paint the wheels orange. Or red.

50 hp on that scooter? I can't believe the tire can take that. I would put a big fat tire on if I had that much HP.

I took a dangerous little ride down my driveway today.... oh sheesh its fast. I hardly pulled the throttle. The tires are half flat and the rear brake is disconnected. So it was dangerous, but fun. Oh and the seat wasnt bolted on either.

Kim, stop posting in my threads.

I have an Elite 80 when I was in hi skool (1985). When you get it running make sure that the peice thats between the Carb and the engine isn't cracked.

I also had a '60's vintage Vespa awhile back. I had a shop in the same building as Go-Fast scooters.

As cool as my elite 80 is, i think it would be much better to get exhaust for my miata. If you need another one, in custom WRB paint, PM me
