http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor...53226224_x.htm, doctor is saying that its too early to make an assessment, but doesn't deny it either. We talk about Webber having bad luck, but for massive shunts, it seems that Kubica wins the prize

This is so sad.I was rooting for him this season.Kubica certainly seems invincible. While most drivers are setback after huge shunts like the one he had in Canada,he just came out of it a better driver.

I feel terrible for Kubica. I really think he could contend for a WDC in a top level car.
Now who do Renault replace him with? I know Senna is the reserve driver but I just can't see Renault running Petrov and Senna for an extended period of time. Are we going to see Raikkonen, Heidfeld, or someone else that has multiple seasons experience behind the wheel? |

There is wildly varying reports of what injuries he suffered. I will wait to hear something official.
Hope he has a full and speedy recovery. |

Jesus. That video explains it all and I don't need to know a word of Italian. When you can see daylight thru the firewall (0:22), it tells a lot.
That also does not at all equate to what I expected from "hit the wall of a church". I was expecting it to be up against a building. Looks like the fire department needed to remove pretty much the entire dash and controls to get him out as well, from the quick glances I could see. One of the fire blogs I visit has a regular submitter who sends stuff in from Italian FDs. I'll see if he has any translations of what's happened. |

Daniele Morelli (Kubica manager) said that the main task of doctors is now restoring the functioning of his right hand. The whole operation should be completed by 21 (3pm) and soon should be held a press conference

That makes me more nervous Went from 14:30 to 15:30...now we'll get an update at 19:00, seems like its more serious than they first thought. I'm sure he'll live, but it seems like his F1 career might be toast.
NM, seems they did update: Quote:

Hope they are able to repair his hand, but if it is massively injured, he will probably have life long deficits.

Kubica's manager: "Doctors have already restored the circulation in hand and have set broken bones. It is a struggle to ensure that all the muscles and tendons work properly"
