Default How can I tell if my rear diff is shot.

I recently changed the rear diff oil to Mobil 1 75W90 Gear Oil. I filled it till it overflowed and put the plug in. It hasn't leaked. Shortly thereafter I started to hear whining from the back of the car on the highway, particularly in 4th or 5th gear. If I push in the clutch it still whines. If I let up on the gas abruptly there's a bit of a clunk. Is my rear diff shot or is it something else?

It's the fluid that is causing this. I put the RedLine in my rear diff and now it is making noises. The only thing you can put in the rear diff is the Subaru LSD oil.
