Question WRX Cobb / Upgrades

Hi
I’m new to Subaru ownership and to NASIOC.
I’d be grateful far any advice / comments on my initial thoughts on what to update on my WRX wagon.
I have just brought an 03 car, stock except for a turbo back TurboXS exhaust and a wastgate solenoid bypass.
I want the car for an interesting daily driver and the odd autocross event, so I really want to do only fairly mild mods.
I am considering getting rid of the pre-turbo cat with a up pipe and re-flashing the ECU using the Cobb stage 2 Access Port.
Would these be the best most cost effective way of getting the most safe/reliable power??
On the handling side I was thinking of up grading the rear sway bar and connectors and leaving at that.
I’d be very grateful for some insight from you guys with much more experience at this sort of thing than me.
Thanks in Advance
Jon

Cobb all the way! it is a very cost effective mod, and you will definetly enjoy it. if you begin to crave more of a mod bug, you will be able to upgrade the tune as well, either by updating the map or going through with the Street Tuner.

AS for your suspension, depending on what class your aiming for Auto-X, i definetly say go with a stronger strut such as the STi KYB base or even the countless struts such as the AGX and so on... the JDM Pinks are a good start with some STi take-offs

Removing the pre-turbo cat would be an up-pipe. I assume this is what you meant. I'm currently stg 1 Cobb with my full tbe and uppipe sitting on my living room floor. The AP has been a good investment and now with street tuner out we should start seeing the mod path widen a little. If you ever plan on tuning yourself then you have a pretty unlimited path with the ST unless you want ECU controlled waterspray/nos/additional injectors.

I could just do the stage 2 access and up pipe, with no additional mods though could I? I was thinking larger injectors might be required as I would guess the up pipe and stage 2 access would return around 300ish bhp at the flywheel. Could I reliably get away with these mods?

If you already have a turboback exhaust, you can purchase the AP and flash your vehicle to stage 2. The uppipe is not required for stage 2, but it sure isn't a bad idea. You will notice your turbo spooling up a bit quicker.

As far as the suspension goes, there's a few things you can do. Front and rear sway bars and end links are a good way to go. If you don't mind putting springs on, that helps out a bit(again, depends on how far you want to go). But the sway bars and end links are a good way to go. Also, what kind of tires do you run? That's a good mod too. Hopefully you folks don't have the RE-92's that we got stuck with.

Hope that helps.
