Just wanted to post and update. I got my AEM digital UEGO installed and hardwired on a serial cable.
I messed around with it a bunch on my laptop and couldn't get anything to work. Installed everything on my brother's laptop and it works fine! Appears mine works on the 9600 data rate setting. Logged half a dozen pulls last night. Works great! |

i was having a problem last night getting romraider to log the Uego and the tactrix at the same time. i got completely lost when trying to install everything and have no idea what i need to do. i got the Uego to show up in hyperterminal though so i know its connecting. i did update to the new romraider release, is there something i need to do after updating or any special drivers i need? im using the bustedfingermotorsports logging cable.

The non inline versions of the Uego are probably not using the higher baud and different data format yet.

Ok, do you need to have the tactrix cable and the aem cable connected to log the aem? Or can I just connect the aem alone? I do not have a tactrix cable so hopefully that is why I can't log my aem. I'm about to give up!

You can log the WB alone using this utility from AEM http://forum.aempower.com/forum/index.php?topic=26370.0

So you are successully able to get data in hyperterminal, right? And what baud rate are you using? Also, make sure only one application is connected to the COM port at a time. For instance, if you have hyperterminal open and it is connected to the port, other apps won't be able to read the port too. In the AEM utility, does the COM port of your UEGO show up? If so, what happens when you click 'Connect'?

So then you have the older version of the Uego. I'm not positive if that one will work with the AEM utility. I didn't look that closely at the code when I decompiled it. If it doesn't say that it is getting connected in the utility then it might not work with your Uego. The dropdown list is just to pick what units you want the AFR displayed in. For instance 14.7 AFR Gasoline = 1 lambda. In RR what Uego plugin are you using?
Copy and paste some output from the hyperterminal here for me to see. |

Update from me.
Works fine on my brother's laptop (RomRaider, Hyperterminal, viewing, logging, etc). Windows 7 64 bit. Beta build of RomRaider. Installed proper driver's for the OBD cable and serial cable. Baud rate set to 9600. Works with or without logging ECU data (can log AEM UEGO by itself). Does not work with RomRaider on my laptop. Just reads 0. Works fine with Hyperterminal. Windows XP. Beta build of RomRaider. Same drivers for ODB cable and serial cable. Baud rate set to 9600. COM port does show up in RomRaider, and is not being used by anything else (Hyperterminal is closed). Basically it should be set up identically between the two computers, but it will only work with RomRaider on one of them. But it will work with Hyperterminal on both. I'm just not sure why RomRaider won't pick up on it. Any ideas? |

I'm not sure why it would be working in one case but not the other. Try enabling trace logging in RR. To do so, open up the log4j.properties file in the RR directory and edit the first line to read:
log4j.rootLogger=trace, file This should create a log file in the RR directory when you run RR. Try to connect to the Uego in RR and then see if anything shows up in the log file that might point to the problem. |

Bumping this for some help. I have an AEM Analog Face Wideband and want to sort this out, It seems the analog version does not have the blue serial data feed for some dumb-ass reason. I'd like to be able to log with RR anyone figure this out in a relatively easy fashion. I know I can probably buy the tactrix 2.0 but I'd rather not since I already have a 1.3 cable and I'd like to stay with the analog gauge since I just prefer how it looks. |

Question about AEM UEGO Wideband o2 sensor.
Hey, whats up with all the problems with AEM uego wideband o2 sensors and RR? I have been reading about a bunch of problems people are having with logging the wideband with RomRaider. Some people are saying the newer digital ones don't work?
From what I have read on these forums, only the AEM uego with the digital display will work to log in RR? Why? The analog face AEM uego uses the same o2 sensor, and look like they are the same? Any info you guys have would be great. I am about to buy a wideband O2 sensor for the sole purpose of data logging, and tuning my v8 JDM STI swap with RR, and I'm gonna be pissed if I get it and it doesnt work.... |

The digital ones work, but can be kind of picky with drivers and compatibility with certain computers. As far as I know the analog ones don't work. Not sure why.

I have an AEM inline uego (one of the new ones) and it works fine in romraider (and also standalone logging with the openport 2.0). I just wired up a USB adapter and set the baud rate to 19200 and its works great. The newest romraider has a 19200 AEM device you can select.

I know I need a db9 connector, and a serial to usb adapter. My question is how do I hook the wires up to the db9 connector? Is there just one wire for the blue wire coming from the wideband? The pictures of the BFM one looks like two wires. What pins do the hook up to? Thank you. Last edited by 03WRXer; 03-24-2012 at 08:46 PM. |

Never mind. I found it!!!! http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2069248 Post # 14 I got this out of the manual from my wideband, this explains what todo:: Serial Output The serial output can be used for data logging when an EFI system is not accessible. To run the data stream, a RS-232 (DB-9) Female Receptacle shall be purchased. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Figure 5 Wire View of RS-232 (DB-9) Male Plug Two wires need to be connected to a RS-232 serial port. The BLUE wire from the AEM UEGO Gauge shall be connected to Pin #2 (RX) on the serial port for receiving data. Page 7 Pin # 5 (GND) on the serial port shall be grounded. If a standard 9-pin serial cable is to be cut instead, the (RX) wire is typically RED and the (GND) wire is typically GREEN. However, this should be confirmed with a continuity tester before attempting. (Figure 5) Use HyperTerminal for testing the data stream. This software is found on most PCs. To find HyperTerminal go to: Start | All Programs | Accessories | Communications | HyperTerminal. Name the New Connection and click OK. Set the COM port to the one being used and click OK. Bits Per Second = 9600 Data Bits = 8 Parity = None Stop Bits = 1 Flow Control = Hardware Verify the settings above and click OK. When power is supplied to the AEM UEGO Gauge, AFR (or Lambda) data will be displayed, as shown below. (Figure 6) Figure 6 Data logging with Hyper Terminal UEGO Sensor If attempting to route the UEGO Sensor through a tight space, AEM recommends temporally removing the light grey latch from the Bosch connector, as shown below, or, routing the smaller six pin connector through the hole. |
