Unhappy Dent Sport Garage is CLOSING after ~10 yrs.

From their FB site...
"We have some unfortunate news for our very loyal DSG customers. Over the past few months we have been contemplating the future of our business and Alex and Bill have made the decision to close Dent Sport Garage to pursue other opportunities. We have been open for nearly 10 years would like to thank all of the people who have made this a possibility. Our 4wd Dyno Dynamics dyno and Custom DSG OMH Ford CF6000 truck are up for sale."

The guys are an endless source of knowledge of what's needed for prepping cars for track, hill-climb, and rally events, as well as maintenance of the daily drivers... I just can't believe it.
The rent for the shop had to be pretty cheap (if you've ever seen the shop); I'm just so surprised the guys are parting ways after all this time.

I got my car tuned there ~18 months ago and it has been super reliable. Good group of guys, can't believe they work on jackstands though, I was shocked when I showed up. I'm sure Bren, EFI and Wicked will be catching their customers.

But man, did they make it work. Super efficient and high-quality work. I haven't posted here in a while (left the Subaru scene years ago), but I really enjoyed hanging out there while Nick and Alex worked on my car. Hope they are moving on to bigger and better things.

Agreed! I wonder where Matt will be tuning, or even if he'll still be tuning?

Wow!...

This is quite upsetting. They just tuned my STi this past October. They did great work on my car on multiple occasions.

Best of luck to the crew, wherever they end up.

Thanks for the interest and the messages guys. It's been a long run by most business standards these days. Many of us will still be a part of the New England motorsports scene so we'll be around in some capacity, be it professional or recreational. We've been lucky to have done this for so long and owe a debt of gratitude to NASIOC and the Subaru community as a whole for their support as customers, racers and enthusiasts.

People are asking a few questions both here and on Facebook.

There are a lot of reasons for closing and we're doing it voluntarily. We're in a good place financially and professionally to make this happen. We could go on like we are forever but we're not interested in doing that. The projects we've been offered over the last couple years are less interesting, likely a result of the failing economy. There's less and less margin on parts, more state restriction on modification and fewer cars within the reach of the original STI buyer for example. STI are now more than 10k more expensive than what they cost in 2004. The market is weak and we aren't seeing signs of improvement. Those aren't excuses, just an analysis of the business we're in and the challenges we face. "Sticking it out" isn't attractive in a situation where we all have options.

Keep an eye peeled because some of us may stay in the industry in jobs that can continue to serve you and your car if you've been happy with what we've done for you. All of our emails will still work and the site will be up for a while, possibly even updated.

We'll be open until the end of Jan at least. Possibly mid FEB but we're not sure about that yet.

Thank you for everything. I can answer questions about the business for anyone who has them.

-Alex

I went to Dent Sport a few weeks ago for the first time. I was psyched to find a great place to bring my WRX. My experience was fantastic and I am sad to see Dent Sport go! Best of luck!

...Though I'll see you guys next week!

That sir would be incorrect!

While not generally known, the principles of Synaptic 3 Performance have had to endure a sort of perfect storm of medical issues over the past 2 years which of course has impacted our growth. However, those days are finally behind us and we are pushing forward with more capabilities than ever. To recap: Synaptic 3 Performance in Candia, NH is here for the long haul and looking forward to an exciting 2013 and beyond! We welcome you to make an appointment to stop by and see for yourself.

Back on topic: We were saddened and shocked to hear the news that guys at DSG plan to ride off into the sunset. However we understand that peoples goals and circumstances change. We have always felt that there's a limited number of shops in the area providing high quality build, fabrication, track setup and technological know how. We have always held DSG's capabilities in high regard, which is also evidenced by their many loyal followers. We've also had very good comradery with Bill and Alex over the years. With similar passions and career paths we can't help but feel a connection. We wish them and all of the team at DSG well in their future endeavors! Your absence in the local community will certainly be missed.

Regards,

Ron Salb

Everyone at DSG has been nothing but friendly and accommodating to me. Must have been the jack stands that finally wore them out hah.

Anyhow, I wish all of you at DSG the best of luck in the future.

This. Hope to see you guys at COM or elsewhere. From my first mod of a spring install in 2007, my 60k mile service in 2008 and a failed high-flow cat diagnosis in 2011, you guys have been great and Alex has been a great resource for a new-to-motorsports guy like myself. Best of luck!
