Seriously, need some repping for the old-school guys
Ken, Anthony, Livestrong, the rest of the crew. We can't let the new-school guys run roughshod over what started this stuff

Yeah, the poll just confirms what I've felt all along.

There's a huge seperation from the Subie "Impreza" folks and the Legacy (or other models for that matter).

And even with the new Legacy, there's a seperation from them and all the old school. It reminds me of the day I rolled up next to a new Legacy and I tried to wave at the stop light. And the guy peels off like I was challenging him to a drag race.

BTW, Sybir, your car has always been one of my favorite wagons.

Ken, you're absolutely right, there's definitely a rift.

Right there with ya (though I own both, I see the difference in reactions I get with both cars).

Your car is the swap I always wish I'd done in the wagon; there's nothing like a clean white car and there's so many cool little details on yours, like the dash pod, etc, that none of the new crowd even notice. All of us know how much effort it takes to find and mod parts for our old warhorses

That's pretty ridiculous. Ken, youpers, and H20(Anthony's old BD) are by far the three nicest Leggos in there. I am a fan of the newer generations of the Legacy as well, but you just can't overlook the amount of work and time put in to the three I mentioned. And they're not even close to winning the pole.

I personally thought Youpers would win by a landslide.

TBH, after awhile all those BP/BL's start to look the same. It's just what you get when the car is easily modifiable, unlike the older Legacy models...

+1. and im the competition.

there are a couple of 05+ on there with alot of custom work done. but by then the subaru aftermarket was already very extensive with alot of expertise out there. difficult yes, but not like the sheer impossibility as per what youpers and kraziken had to go through. the current leader pretty much has nothing but off the shelf parts...

oh and youpers...

I agree that it is more difficult to mod our generation of legs, but I personally don't think that changes all that much. Just because you might have a harder time sourcing parts or whatever, doesn't mean that you deserve more consideration. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Kraziken's car and Hiroki's and Sybir's, etc.

Also, having ridiculous power and a huge mod list doesn't do a lot for me. I'd rather have a reasonably modded, RELIABLE and hot looking ride.

I voted for mr. cakes. That car is gorgeous. Yeah, it isn't crazy modded or pushing 400whp, but I think it is gorgeous, and fast enough for me.

There should be separate categories though.

Well, I see it that if we're voting for a TOP LEGACY, innovation has to be a big factor, at least in how the owner has built, chose, and sourced all the parts the has put on the car.

There's like 3 parts that repeated over and over among all the 05+ entrants, and not saying that they just jumped the bangwagon, but I give more respect and admiration to someone that has spent a lot more of their personal time and effort (and not to mention $$$) researching, finding the part, and sometimes even having to modify/fabricate something into their car to make it work.

This is often the case with the older Legacy's.

Yes, the BP/BL's are nice modified street rides, but as far as picking one of them as the BEST legacy out of the bunch, when you've got some really extremem examples of how a Legacy can be built up...eh.

yeah, but extreme to me does NOT = the best.

Just different perspectives. I'm never going to have an "extreme" car, nor do I lust for one, so I can appreciate the time and MONEY that went into it, but that doesn't make me like it the most.

Everyone's got one...

an opinion

I can respect that opinion.

Although I think Mr. Cakes has benefitted quite a bit by some professional quality pics. Something I have been planning on doing, but just didn't get around to in time for this.

I voted. I do feel that the "old schoolers" aren't getting the love and respect they deserve, but what do I know, my car is a turd.

yeah i took the pics, not a professional photograher by any means, but o wells.

i like it when everyone bags on my car for not being all power modded, but i like to look at it like this, it is a beauty competion not a power competition, its like taking an ugly smart girl to a beauty competition, yeah she might be smart but she looks like crap, same with a stock car with a bunch of engine mods, not to put anyone down becasue i am all for the sleeper look.

The sleeper look can still have some attractive appeal too...clean cars with paintmatched mudflaps, skirts, etc can look damn good and still be stock in appearance. A car doesn't have to be overstated to look awesome, in my opinion.

It's not black and white, people.
