I had an AP installed prior to the reflash, I merely uninstalled it before going to the dealer for the recall flash. Mine is running like a champ and I reinstalled the AP without issue. |

umm well ours was unmarried and everything and the dealer ship said it was fried... here read the story.
We had the Cobb AP on our 08 STI. We brought it to our Subaru Dealership to have the ECU redone beacause of the letter SOA sent out. The letter was about over revving and things getting messed up. Well i had the AP unistalled and when they redid the ECU for the problem the computer read that it was pretty much fried and needed a new one. So when the dealership called SOA they asked if we had the AP on and we said yes. So they told the dealership that it needed a new ECU. But the dealership said that they would replace the ECU for free altho the warrenty is void. They just said they would be "nice" and do it for free. But i am thinking if the AP is unistalled then why would the new ECU reflash fry it?!?! and plus they said they would fix it for free.... so i am thinking possibly the dealership did something that is why they arnt making a big deal of it.... Tell me what u think! Thanks!! sorry about that grammar and spelling it was from a previous post... |

Well, just got off the phone with Subaru customer service. They have told me the low compressioin in cylinder 4 ( misfire ) had nothing to do with the wve-15 campaign and that Subaru will not warranty this repair due to the fact that the car had the cobb ecu upgrade and the turbo back exhaust from Harmonmotive. I guess we are SOL! I dont know what other avenues to take from here. I am told the repair is going to run about 5500.00 for a new short block and pistons, that its not worth cracking the engine in 1/2 and trying to repair.

In short, if you are not ready for repair bills do not install the cobb upgrade or harmonmotive exhaust. If you dont have the cobb upgrade, you can not run the turbo back exhaust for the 02 sensor goes crazy and you need cobb to upgrade that. We did not know this when the exhaust was purchased, nor were we told! So if we dont leave the cobb upgrade in, we will also need to remove the exhaust system and go back to stock for the turbo back is not compatible with the stock ecu.

That's how it has always been dude. You are modifying an existing emissions control device (your cats) which has been illegal under federal law forever, as well as changing the way a major component in your car is behaving (ECU). Sure it sucks, and it's not really the exhaust or the reflash's fault, but you've got a long battle ahead of you if you try to fight it.
