Why NESIC Miotters dont S2000?
Or Boxter.
I know some of you can afford them, they are short money used (compared to a new WRX, which you all afforded at least once) Is the Miata that incredible? I know its great, but for someone that is into the 2 seater convertable RWD thing, you would think one of you would have opted for what I would imagine would be the FAR superior well, everything of the S2000 or Boxter (non S) Just curious.

Mostly because it's a weekend/summertime toy, and it's cheap, and the aftermarket for it is pretty huge. I'm not a huge Honduh fan, and the S2000 was enough money that I'd have that and nothing else, and driving it was just... meh. Same with the Boxster. Nice enough, but for that kind of money, I'm going to seek out an M Roadster.
I'm just not into the luxury thing for my autocross toy either. I don't need heated seats, mirrors, and fancy gadgets. I wanted exactly what I got, a cheap, fun, raw, RWD roadster that is the modern Brit roadster, without the Lucas issues. It handles beautifully, goes fast enough (soon to be much faster ) and doesn't look all that bad, IMHO. Besides, I already have the official car of lesbians, why not have the official car of gay men to offset that? |

The same reason we stopped racing our WRX's. It's an expensive car to crash. I own my Miata and could care less if I total. The aftermarket for Miata's is huge, and parts are everywhere.

$$. I'm contemplating one as a summer toy. However... I've already a summer toy, my Ducati. While new the miata is as pricy as a used s2k, I'd say a used one, can be had for under 5k, there's not a s2k I've seen for 2x that.

Very few cars compare to a 2200# Miata. A Boxster/S2k are not remotely the same feel. My Miata was the cheapest car to run that I've ever owned.

90-93 were 2200 lbs stock.
94-97 were 2300 lbs stock. At NED, I weighed in at 2720 with the scale 150 lbs off and me in it. So, mine weighed in at 2400 with a full system, spare tires, everything. Not sure about the newer ones. |

my 99 Miata with full interior, roll cage, 1/3 tank of fuel, and me in it weighed 2465 at post-race impound 2 yrs ago. It's pretty easy to get any of the Miatas into the 2200 lb range without driver.

I'm with Redneck Ricer S2000 is nice, but as many mentioned, too much cash. I would also only really want a Boxter S, and this years model at that...
