Question No front Plate in ottawa area, pull over???

I am doing a bumper swap when i get my car back, and i don't want to put the front plate on! I currently have a ON Lic plate, so what is the chance i will get pull over, and how much is the fine?

I don't plan to move to the other side of the river, only for the plate!

Thanks!

Why don't you just keep it under your seat in the car or something and put it in the windshield if you get pulled over. There's no way the cop would be that much of an a$$hole to give you a ticket if the plate is in the windshield.

I 've never driving around without front plate, that's why i want to know the chances i will get pull over.

Have the plate on the windshield may work!

I ran 3+ years with no front plate. I even got pulled over in Hull
with no problems. Most of the time they will give you 48-72hrs to
"get it fixed". Just tell them that you noticed it hanging by one
bolt this morning and you have to get to the dealer to get the
right sized bolt to put it back.

It'll cost an extra trip to the station to prove that it is on, but it
beats a ticket. The chances of being pulled over just for that are
slim since there are so many QC cars around w/o front plates.

I don't know about ottawa, but here, unless the plate is secured to the front bumper, you can get ticketed. my friend got ticketed for having a plate on his windshield. I didn't have one on my old car, but I only got a warning, so I think it really depends on the cop.....or move to alberta, no front plate needed

I would say that the odds of being pulled over exclusively for the plate are slim. But if you get caught speeding you can expect a bonus ticket for the plate as well, unless you are very polite to the officer & he/she is in a good mood!

This will be my 3rd year in Ottawa, but i didn't get 1 single ticket yet. I aways do 20-30 over . When i was in Vancouver, those A@@hole Cops give me 3 tickets 1 year.

Heehee, now i have front, side, and rear clear corners all with super white bulbs
and soon will run without a front plate i hope cops will still be friendly with me!

Well I guess it all comes down to luck.

My friend ran a heavily modified Miata in Ottawa for over eight years without a front plate without a single warning.

Me, I got a ticket (not a warning) in less than two weeks of pulling the front plate off my '59 Austin Healey. I think the police officer just didn't like British cars

So the question is, are you willing to gamble the $50 (or whatever it is now) to find out how lucky you are?
