Not trying to defend them from anything, but we were in the same boat for a couple months on a few of our orders. We couldn't tell the customer any more than what our pipeline was telling us. 2 of the orders would say one month, then 2 weeks later get delayed to the next month. One of THOSE orders got pushed back another month(in the pipeline report). Yet, we had a couple base model sedans ordered and those came in normal 6 to 8 weeks. So, we DON'T know, really, until the car gets a VIN. Once it has a VIN, it can be tracked a little better.

What would you want us to tell you?
Now, we are saying what SOA said with the 12-16 weeks.
Good point - didn't realize that. Maybe I ordered after my dealer was aware, because he told me about the delays. Then again, my local dealer didn't.

I mean CBE doesn't really effect performance nor does it need any ecu tuning but it probably better to let the ECU learn it the first time it tune into your car rather than having to reset it and make it learn again.

You're ecu resets any time you disconnect the battery, and it re-learns quickly. That's really not an issue at all.

Big question of the day!

To add side body moldings or not to add side body moldings?

I didn't order the car with them but maybe after I pick the car up its something I should really think about.

Door dings are the worst. People are careless and I live in a city.
What do you all think?

...and GO!

I was debating on getting them also. I decided not to, after looking at a bunch of pictures in the '11/'12 picture thread. They don't look bad, but I think the car looks better without them. And I knew they wouldn't be completely effective anyway, with all the various vehicle heights and doors. It's definitely an item worth thinking about though.

I've been thinking about the side molding as well for the same reason but like mentioned above it won't really help much. I wish 3m paint protection vinyl wasn't so expensive lol. I would wrap my whole car instead of just the hood. My current Acura has some big dings on it from parking lots. Annoys me how people can't learn to respect other's properties. I'm going to slap a if I see a ding on my brand new wrx.

I agree just to wait anyhow. But not for the reason of wanting the ecu to "learn". Any performance mod you do, whether it needs a new tune or not, you should disconnect the battery to reset the ecu at that time.

Not required. Ecu learns and adjusts parameters based on driving characteristics.

Yes, but it also does so through the use of a running average. If you make a performance modification, resetting the ecu will kick it back into startup mode where it will perform diagnostics and adjust quicker to the new setup. If you reset the ecu, the car will run less than ideal for a few miles, instead of a few hundred miles.

Necessary, no.

Good idea, probably.

Just got an email from my broker. Ordered my 13 wrx hatchback September 26th. It was scheduled for delivery next Friday, 12/7. It arrived today! Pre-inspection at the dealer tomorrow, then it's being delivered to my broker Monday. Tuesday it is scheduled for window tint and clear bra then I will be picking it up Wednesday. I am very excited!

I personally think the side molding looks gross.

I've seen a lot of people "shave" those side moldings on certain other cars, cause apparently ... well i don't know . They've very hard to notice, unless you're conciously thinking about _that. If I see a car with or without them it looks like that's just how the car is designed and there's really no thoughts one way or the other. But if they offer the car w/o them that's great it's an option.

I didn't get them, no reason really, but I sort of considered the bumper guards since every car I've ever owned has that problem .. but I didn't get those either.... it's a car, if you drive it anywhere, it will get some imperfections over time no matter how hard you try to stop it. As long as it's not totally neglected appearance wise, not falling apart, and driving well, that's good enough for me. you'll have the stone chips in the hood etc, big deal.

DISCUSSION INCOMING:

So I feel that the general thoughts on the I, S, S# selection in the thread during break-in period are all over the place and feel we should talk about how people are running theirs during break-in. From what I have read, I runs lean, mainly for gas mileage, and from people have said S# runs alot more rich. So during a break-in period whether u do a hard break-in or not for the first 20-50 miles, or baby it the whole 1000 miles, would it not make sense to put the car through the break-in period in "S" mode as it would act as a happy medium between somewhat lean and somewhat rich or am i not understanding this correctly? I personally plan to do a hard breakin for the first 20-50 miles out the dealer and then run sub 4k rpm for rest of the period til a 1000, then plan on not going more that 1/2 throttle til 2k miles while going up to 5500 rpms

Headed to EWK, which I believe is Newark. I have a call into my dealer for an update to see if my car is on that boat.

The recommended break in is stay below 4k for the first 1k. I don't know why you wouldn't do that, its in the manual. It looks to me like you are coming up with your own break in procedure. Why not follow the recommended guidelines? Also it shouldn't matter what mode the car is in since you'll be staying out of boost and below 4k anyways.

I will share with everyone something.... If a car has a port installed option, they install all of those options on every car at one port. They do not distribute the cars to many ports and maintain multiple facilities for these installs. It would make sense to ship all of these cars for east coast distribution to a port that is in the same state as your North America HQ...

For one I'm not coming up with my own procedure, its based off comments / videos from other people that have already done this. And for rest your post, obviously not only have u not read alot of threads on the forums as of late about this topic but also this thread as well so I'm not goin to post a 2 page essay to argue with u.

And hard break in in no way shape or form means I'm going to WOT out the gates to 6k rpms. And with all the ring land issues on even full stock cars that claimed to have been babied to 1k miles still blowing, I'm not totally sold on subaru a break in procedure being the only way to do it.
