Unhappy Engine Misfiring & Starting Hesit.ATTN Nick

I bought an 2002 Impreza last August. I filed for Arbitration because an ASE Cert. Mechanic told me I had Engine Misfiring problem and starting hesitation. SOA gave me a new Impreza in April. Low and be-hold, the new vehicle has the same problems. The vehicle has 2,500 miles on it and the dealership won't take it back. I am having to videotape the problems as they occur intermittently. Anyone else hear the "popping" sound, which is the engine misfiring? How about starting hesitation? Thanks for any and all replies.

Default YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

Ahhhh!!!! I have the same problem. My WRX misfires on all cyclinders intermitantly. I have taken the car into the dealership four times now. It is so bad that the car is nearly undrivable, the car drops from having 227 hp to about 50hp. Then the car starts smoking and fills the air with a strong smell exhaust and gasoline.

They had a rep from SOA out to look at it, but the car was not suffering from the problem when the rep came to look at it.

They just replaced the MAF but it did no good.

My car is starting to hesitate upon initial acceleration from just after it starts up then then even after it is warm....Should I be worried?

Umm, I don't know. My problem is extremly bad. You might get out and circle your car smelling for exhaust. My car is so bad that if you where exposed to the exhaust for more then a few minutes you would probably pass out.

It could be the summer heat and your intercooler not getting much a chance to cool down.

If your car is exhibiting these systems most likely the MIL (Check Engine Light) would be lit and it would store the misfire info.

Any CELs here?

Angry Starting hesitation

I'm not sure if it exactly the same problem but my WRX that I've had for 5 months has always hesitated starting or taken a longer time to crank to start than any other car.

Mine sometimes hesitates to start. It has been ok most of the time. Only once or twice has it been a pain. But I always just figured it was the way the car was.

Have you pulled the trouble codes and if so what are they?

there are probably more but so far:
misfire in 1, 2, 3 and 4
cam position sensor and crank position sensor.

changed the cam position sensor and the CEL blinks alot more.

will prolly change crank sensor next.

only mods are HKS TT and SPT (STi) axle back muffler.

new air filter (oem) and fuel filter (oem).

-=GuS=-

you can here the misfire at about 5200rpm at WOT.

Default anyone seen this issue

Start the car and it makes a clank like it started in the exhaust stroke and you slowly hit accelerator and it feels like a vibration (like motor is not firing on all 4) Real unbalanced accompanied by funky idle?
