Yeah, I mean D35 isn't the total end of the world as you could do an Ford 8.8 (from exploder) swap which is stronger than a D44. But it's certainly worth some haggling.
My D35 has taken way more abuse than the ninnies on the internet would have you believe it can.

no worries. if it is indeed a d35, do the same with the rear wheels as the front. If the tire will wiggle, there may be an issue with the axle shafts/c-clips. if thats the case its not a huge deal , but its an issue and you dont want the wheel to fall off your new jeep.

Updown/frontback is wheel bearings. If its just wiggle... check yer lug nuts lol. Me I find a great diagnostic tool is my finger. Dip it in the gear oil... look for metal sheen, rub for grit, thats bad. Grab yoke and turn, anything more than a couple degrees of slop is unacceptable, and ANY updown front back movement is a reason to avoid the axle. |

You can fit up to a 30 with no lift without much rubbing. I don't see why you would need anything more than a 8" wide wheel really. Stay with 15s for better pricing. It also helps to say which year XJ you have.

Shouldn't this be more than 23k? (2010 Rubicon with 15k miles)

My friend got one for less than that with less miles.
That snorkel is a crime though. It also could mean it was "wheeled" aka mudded down there. Also you need to make sure everything is still there. Axles, Transfer case, etc. can be swapped out for lesser parts. |

Either over compression causing the spring to go negative arch, or "S" ing due to axle wrap... but once they start failing its a quick process. |

I'm a perfectionist. I know the functionality is there, but if I can retain it and improve the aesthetics... I am going to do it. I have no qualms with the silver hardware, but if I am not satisfied with the look when all is said and done... I'm going to change it. Having caught up on the thread... did Whitford buy the LJ? I ****ing loooooove LJ's. |

dealers were dumping '11s for $7k off because of the new motor. Wonder if that has affected resale so soon. I wouldn't think so

as much as I love it, a lightly used 5.7L Commander is probably a better buy. Not as cool though.

100% serious. You can get a Limited 5.7L Hemi 4WD with less than 100k miles for <$15K. Do a 2" lift, AEV wheels and 32's and for not much spent:
Here's an AEV built Commander on 40's: |
