Default Secondary Air Pump & Valves Code

Hey guys,
Seems like I'm having the same problem pretty much everyone else with an 06/07 wrx has had.
I'm getting all sorts of Secondary air pump codes (P2444 etc..) mainly that it is stuck on. Even though it is not, you can't hear it.

Not even going to go to Subaru with it, as it was bought with some mods to the exhaust and the dealership owners here are crooks anyways.

I really don't know too much, and doing anything about it myself is really out of the question.
I've got it at a shop right now. I see lots of people posting about just recoding the ECU, but they also mention an AccessPort. I've got a few questions about this.

I have an 06 WRX (not STI), and no AccessPort, is it possible to recode the ECU without one?
Also, if it is, and I do, am I also required to remove and block off the Secondary air pump and valve systems?

I live in Regina, SK, Canada. It gets pretty damn cold here. Most people seem to say this system is just for cold start emissions, however, I've read a few others implying that it could cause problems in cold environments?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Haha, excuse my ignorance, but it didn't really seem to answer any of my questions.
It didn't answer whether or not I need an Accessport.
Seemed people were arguing whether or not it was important, but no one came to a single conclusion.
And didn't respond to whether the removal was necessary in addition to the the ECU reprogramming if possible.

If people are answering these questions, it is all together possible that I am too car-illiterate to understand them.

Can someone put it into simple context for me?

1. Remove air pump (not pictured)
2. Remove "No. 8" valve/solenoid closer to the firewall.
3. Disconnect "No. 5" valve/solenoid but leave in vehicle, has a pressure sensor that you need to keep.

4. Use block-off plates for the block ports that connect to the air pump valve/solenoids. Block-off plates are OEM in 2007 STi passenger side and Tribeca driver's side.
5. Disable codes with tactrix cable and Romraider software (cheaper alternative) or get an Accessport (more $).

Awesome thanks.
He's just finicking around with it right now. He unplugged the fuse to the airpump and that error code stopped actually but we're still getting one for one of the valves (p14something)

I found an unmarried accessport in calgary from a guy who bought it for his Forrester but it was actually for my generation wrx. It's a v1 and he's selling it for 200 bucks.
Am I able to recode the ecu in order to not display the error messages with a v1 AP?

That thread has all the info you want.

You need ANY way to tune out the codes that the air pump will throw out. Be it open source from a local buddy, an AP, or any other means of ECU tune/flashing.

It is only important for emissions during cold starts, that's it. It MIGHT prolong catalytic converter life, but it's hard to tell and can only speculate.
