Attn: Canadians, radio question.
Do you or anyone you know anyone that lives in Canada have XM Radio? I am trying to find out how far up the signal goes. Pioneer doesn't know because the product is not available there.
I mainly need to know about the Windsor/Toronto area. Thanks, Doug

Yeah. We have had it in the US for ~3 weeks. I was hoping to find a Canadain that has come to the US and bought one already.
Is it going to be available in Canada? I heard the satellite TV dish's are not allowed. This is basicly the same thing. |

Yeah it is supposed to come.
And yes we're allowed sat dish TV Just not DirectTV. We have two providers here, Bell and Starchoice (shaw) You can get XM receiver no problem, just won't work. They are only brodcasting certain areas right now... Do you know how much the receivers cost btw? |

The receiver box and antenna are around $300 or so. I think activation is ~$15 and monthly service is $10. If you don't currently have a deck that can control it you will need that also. Unless you go with the FM Modulated version. It works the same way the add on changers do.
Someone told me that if you buy the sony modulated receiver you can buy a home kit and move the controller between the car and house. I don't have any info on the home kit though. Only 30 of the 100 channels are commercial free. http://www.xmradio.com http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ |

It's amazing that only 1/3 of the channels are commercial free.
You would figure, for having to pay monthly service, they'd either give an awesome deal on the hardware, or have no commericals at all. The only thing about XM that is attractive to me is commercial free-ness. I mean, sure it's nice to have digital quality music, but I can get that commercial free with my cd player. If anything it should be like Tivo service.. either monthly or lifetime subscription. Then I'd probably fork over the lifetime payment.. if it was reasonable. |
