PO325 Knock sensor circuit malfunction
Hi all, I'm a newbie w/ a 99 Impreza, 60k on the clock and a recurrent CEL=PO325.
1. Initially, the CEL would come on only under increased engine load (steep grades). 2. Changed plugs with OE NGK's. Discovered that the plugs hadn't been changed @ 30k. 3. Now the CEL (same code) comes on just driving down the street. Are there any known problems w/ the knock sensor??? Thanks in advance

make sure you when you do replace it you torque it to the proper spec are you can cause damage to the sensor and have the same problem all over again.

+1, I just replaced the knock sensor on my wife's Forester about 4000 miles ago. I lightly sanded the corrosion from the block with fine grit. I did not use a torque wrench, but the specs are like 12lbs., so I used a small socket wrench and tightened very little (snugly) after contact. No problems yet, CEL (also PO325) never returned. I figure to check it next oil change to see if it's loose.

Why
Is there something wrong with the car that causes the sensor to go bad or is the sensor just not well made?
