Another reason not to speed in GA..
http://www.news-journalonline.com/Ne...ST03081904.htm
What are coops thinking? Ram the car at 110? Why not back-off, radio ahead and put out stop sticks or some other less lethal option?

this is exactly why police chases are so worthless...86 in a 70 and two people are dead because some hee-haw desperado had to END THE PURSUIT. they just invented this thing called a camera and a bit later this even more crazy thing called a radio---either one could have been 1000x better to use than the stupid pit manuever

Nice training they have, "So we shall use the PIT maneuver at over 100mph on vehicles that are unable to take a corner without rolling over at 25mph" but hey, maybe she had a trunk full of coke.

It was just dumb luck they hit a tree, and what the **** were they thinking not wearing seatbelts doing 110??? I personally have no pity for the driver, perhaps for the passenger though.

100+ mph, swerving through 3 lanes of traffic, running cause she didn't want a ticket...
better her than me. i wouldn't fault the police at all. not all police cars/departments carry stop sticks or have anything other than the PIT to work with. I imagine there are also missing details such as approaching a high traffic or more residential area where it could have been 20 dead instead of 2. |

cops are cool when they're protecting people, not killing them.

the cops get all pumped and they get the stop them at all costs mentality...like trying to be super heros...ever watch the show cops...they do use force when the yank someone out of a car after a car chase...usually 2 or 3 cops are on the person with the perps arm behind their back and a knee on the perps neck and another knee in the guys back...i know its prolly to protect them as well as the person being arrested...but they get so jacked and they are just human too

There is no reason for people to die. Had the cops just said "Woah! This gal's going too fast. Maybe we should back off instead of egging her on" things would have been much different. It's not like they didn't have her plate or anything |

In fact, I remember having a conversation with a Gwinnett County Cop who was telling me about, maybe it's not for GSP though.

By starting/continuing a chase at 100+ they were the ones who excaberating the danger. Let's face it, 86 in a 70 is not a dangerous situation. A 17 year old innocent passenger is dead because GSP "did it's job". |

i still don't think a 21 year chick is going to run from the cops because she was driving without a license. there's got to be more to the story

yea, once you get the plate whats teh big deal ? Call the chase off and show up at the house, maybe takes a lil investigating but isn't that what police do ? God forbid someone doing 16mph's over the speed limit gets away whoooooooooaaa
Btw I probably would have tried to take off.... i know this "guy" who was speeding, saw the cop pull out and he tried to duck and run all over, and also on a bike too, but there is a point whne you should realize to give up. |

that makes no sense. if someone is doing 16 over and you go to pull them over and they take off, that gives the police probable cause. 9 times out of 10 i bet a car that does that is stolen, or full of drugs, or something of the sort.

and how are the five-oh supposed to distinguish between that and a psycho? the possibilities are endless. as we all know we can't expect our policemen to be perfect, but no one woulda said anything if she was carrying a crystal meth lab in the trunk and the police took her out.

I bet that during the chase they could have been able to run the plate to see if it was stolen.
There are better ways to take care of this than to make them spin/flip at high speed. I mean, eventually she will need to stop. |

I guess going in front of her and making her stop slowly is not part of the training. Or the cops car have a speed limiter at 115mph
edit: out of topic but i want to know opinions my question is, would people still say "she didnt deserve it" even if the car was stolen and full of drugs? how about the same but she is a he? |
