Default New Rotors getting rusty

I bought Centric drilled & slotted rotors around Christmas and every time i wash the car they get that rust layer on them. I don't care about the disc area as it comes off but the hub part still has it.

What the heck do i use to clean it off and keep them from doing that again?

I'm probably powdercoating them after this coming Christmas, when i powdercoat my Brembo's black. But until then, i need something to help get that off and keep it clean

I would take them off and wire wheel the rust off then use some high temp paint or caliper paint. That way you can do it in one day and not have to wait for them to come back from powder coating.

I wire brush mine off once in a while. After some time I just went f-it. I'd probably high temp paint them but now its the lazyness and it doesn't bother me that much anymore.

yes. please don't paint the surface of your rotors that the brake pads come in contact with.

just wanted to clarify, OP made it seem like he was powdercoating/painting his rotors....i am not sure of the difference between powdercoating vs. painting, but ive always understood them to pretty much be the same.

I would assume that's pretty obvious.

However, assumptions are the mother of all ****ups...

I hate rotor rust. To prevent it from happening to me, I just bought coated rotors (Centric Cryo-Treated rotors.)
