For some, like with a 2.5l a 10cm 16g might be a good option. It's also 1200 dollars.
I see 20psi by 3000 rpm on my vf... |

I bought my pnp hot side vf52 late last summer from 6speed and finally got around to installing it in my 2008wrx. I bought this turbo from their stock and was delayed because they never had some gaskets needed for rebuild. They too sent me a Perrin turbo blanket because of the delay. My butt dyno says it's a lot faster and virtual dyno show nice upgrades but haven't actually protuned it yet. Currently running Torqued Performance stage 3.52 map with all supporting mods. (Process west top mount, 3 port and turbo). Also have tomei eql headers and up pipe, Cobbs downpipe, aem intake and invidia q300.
I am currently dealing with a strange boost issue which I hope is a leaky bpv. I hit max boost of 20psi but it doesn't hold. Here's the virtual dyno graph |

I have been running Eric's stage 2 map on the my td04 since last November. I have only been running the new map for the vf52 for about a week and am on revision number 3. I'm sure the tune is not the boost issue or the turbo. I don't even see how the turbo could be to blame for the boost issue. I have an aftermarket bpv lined up and if this doesn't correct and hold steady boost, I'll look at pressure testing system at shop.

Does the turbo smart have differnet springs? Either way that should help with holding the boost. Just dont use rtv on any connecting surface. |

Previous owner is including the spring that comes with bpv and a softer one he bought afterward. Hopefully this corrects issue and my 6 speed review can be a little more complete. I don't plan on using silicone rtv. The stock gasket that comes with bpv is paper. Previous owner made a cork gasket. I'll probably do the same.

Is the tune conservative ? I'm at 300/320 at 17.6psi no EBCS yet Only intake , FMIC and catless DP I'll be getting another tune soon tho ... I just added a bunch of bolt ons Hoping for 315/335 |

I'm still going through an e-tune process. My road dynos have ranged from 300/315 to what you see in the graph. Assuming knock doesn't become an issue with some timing advance, I should see slightly higher numbers in the next few revisions. I am looking for a conservative tune as I track my car a couple times per year.

I ran a PnP 6-Star VF39 on my STi with an EWG for a while and I was really impressed with the quality of work and performance on the turbo.
I would be curious how this would do on the setup I will have after my motor is finished on my 05 STi.
I'll still probably go with a Morrocco88 pipe set-up and a Borg Warner S200SX-56. Interesting idea though. |

Pics of PnP VF39 from SixStarSpeed next to Greddy 18G. Been busy working but soon should have time to get the VF39 installed in my WRX along with a few other mods. Might go EWG still debating, at minimum I'm gonna install EWG uppipe and blank if off for future.
