The turbo pressure meter watches your boost fluid levels and will alert you of any dangerous problems. The accessport is an immobilizer for your car. You keep it in your pocket and the car recognizes it and will allow you to start it.

That's why my accessport doesn't work. I keep plugging it into my dash. Damn...i never thought to put it in my pocket. ...sorry man, I just had to say it. People make mistakes; it's all good as long as you don't make the same mistake twice. |

There are MUCH worse posts you should be complaining about than that one. Much worse. Try preaching to the out-and-out flames and name calling that goes on here daily, and leave the sarcastic, funny post alone. You're fighting the wrong fight... Why don't you start posting telling Scotty to stop calling 58 people an idiot everyday, for the last 3 years first, then you can go after the little fish... The accessport is a hand held engine computer programmer, what this means is that you can add 20 HP with a click of a button and go back to stock just as easily. It also has valet modes for less power, as well as modes for fuel economy and various octane levels.
The Turbo PSI gauge is really just a factory toy, the only true application is when adjusting to higher boost levels (perhaps with an accessport) to check for boost creep or leaks in the intake. IF however you are making major modification and feel the need to monitor your PSI closely the stock gauges is not particularly accurate, get a good aftermarket one. That took me all of 30 seconds and dont even own a scooby... |

A factory toy??? You must be kidding. Its not the most accurate, but it is quite useful. Its generally a good idea on a turbo car to have a boost gauge. Plenty of stock cars experience dangerous boost problems. I guess not owning a turbo car, you didn't consider that. Factory toy??? More like absolute necessity |

The boost gauge, as was just pointed out, lets you see what the car is doing - while it certainly has an important role when adjusting boost pressure (esp. if you are using a mechanical boost controller), it tells you plenty about what a plain, stock turbocharged vehicle is doing, too. I think some of the responses above are in reaction to this post after seeing some of his other ones... specifically the "I have a new STi and want to make it go faster" post... particularly for the "what's a boost gauge" question. I hardly think the responses in this thread are straight up newbie-bashing... |

I don't call people idiots....I let their stupidty become glaringly apparent and, hopefully, make others think a bit about what's actually what and not what they think it is ...and this thread is award winning OT material...no doubt. |

accessport is simple, its just like a reflash which usually tends to up the boost plays with th Air/Fuel ratios and then gives you 20hp, with the access port you can have up to 10 different maps (i belive it is), and you can switch within them very easily, you just upload some maps to the AP from your computer hook it up to you ecu, the AP is a good mod for people not going to serious on there car but if your gonna be doing lots of upgrades there are better EMs out there like Utec and EcuTek or just a standalone EM

REX8 and DrD... while I do not currently drive a turbo car, you have aboslutely no knwoledge of my history and the fact of the matter is that my post led to the most productive contributions in this thread, lets leave the sarcasm aside shall we?
Just a thought 425 RWHP MKIV, Charger GLHS running 13's, 300 RWHP MR2, 13.5 second N/A probe, Juiced probe, AMC Javelin rebuild... allll cars i have worked on or owned and am intimately familier with so please dont make assumptions based on 1 post.... So next time someone takes the time to actually ANSWER a post on the forums, even if it is dumbed down and maybe a little off, consider how you look trying to condescend him or her. Especially when you have posted 2 times in the thread already and contributed nothing (REX8 I am speaking fo you) except making the search you so adimately ask people to use, that much LESS useful.... |

If you are so experienced, maybe YOU SHOULDN'T TELL PEOPLE ..."The Turbo PSI gauge is really just a factory toy, the only true application is when adjusting to higher boost levels (perhaps with an accessport) to check for boost creep or leaks in the intake" ^^^ Thats statement is stupid, so we let him know not to follow it. If you give bad advice, expect people to correct you. Thats pretty simple. And for the record, I never told anyone to search. (and just because... you do know the factory gauge isn't in psi right??? ) Last edited by REX8; 02-13-2006 at 01:34 PM. |
