Default Turn in Concepts (TiC) new EBCS! Review

First I'd like to that Clint for choosing me to be one of his product testers. It's nice to have vendors be active in a way like this; seeing what the people want, getting feedback, then producing parts that have been proven to work on our specific vehicles. So keep up the good work!

So being a test product the EBCS is unbranded. I am going to assume that the final piece will have some type of logo or engraving with TiC on it. Upon opening the box I noticed the EBCS to be very small, sleek, and attractive! Contents were: EBCS, 3 barb fittings, setup instructions, and Clint's card as well as some TiC stickers (that now decorate my work bench).

What I loved about this is that it was plug and play!! So no splicing or soldering, just unplug the old one and plug in the new one! After looking at it a bit more I noticed the barb fittings to be just a tad short. They worked fine for the install, but they could be just a little bit longer. I connected it up (I have a TwinScroll kit) in a fashion most don't because I need "Tee's" for all connections. But now going from a MBC to this enabled me to get my SI-Drive back! Finally! No more pulling over and turning the knob up or down. Just turn the switch and have boost settings on the fly! Setup was easy, just follow the instructions. Now for tuning it:

Cameron @CAMTuning.com did the tuning. You all know he has skills so tuning this was no big deal. Once I was able to do pulls I noticed that boost was solid, quick and consistent! At the turn of the knob, SI-Drive bumped up target boost to 25psi and the TiC EBCS responded instantly: 25psi! Up to 30 next! I have an Omni power MAP sensor so controlling boost up there was not an issue. Again the EBCS was flawless. With such a small piece of hardware, this has really changed the way the car performs. Takes one more step out of the equation with me having to go manually turn up boost. Solid piece of equipment, solid performance! Thanks again Turn in Concepts for the easy plug-in-play EBCS!!

There are a couple of things to note on this one.

First, it's not a TiC product, but the result of a manufacturer we've been working with for a while who wants to go more mainstream. That company is Motive Autoworks. You may also see the name tossed around a bit due to the composite TGV risers we're also currently having tested.

Some of the feedback we've gotten so far is this:

1) needs a bracket - this they have been working on, but they really wanted to get the valve tested first so sans bracket on the testers.
2) needs a 90* fitting in the middle, and all the fittings need to be a little longer as those short ones can be a pain in the butt. We passed that along, and they were able to source some double barb longer fittings for more practical use.

Sounds like they're working towards making it exactly like the GrimmSpeed, lol. Does this one use an off-the-shelf MAC solenoid or is it spec'd differently? If they can come up with the right fittings, a decent bracket and competitive pricing, it should be a decent option. It certainly doesn't look like anything new though.

Gotcha.

1) I mounted mine just fine. A bracket will only be a plus!
2) This will make things easier as well! Thanks for those double barbs, will be great for peace of mind.

This will turn out well. Great product!

I recived this unit as well and is a very nice piece. I love that it doesn't require splicing like the unit that was previously installed on my car .

Technically, just about nothing.

Price... well.... that's where you'll see a difference.

Lolz, Tom owns Kartboy guys, I'm pretty sure he was joking. I'm psyched for this unit, I've been eyeing the Grimmspeed unit for a while now and I got in on TiC's TVG groupbuy so I'm def. going to pick one of these up when it comes time for final payment.

Also... The important part are the specs of the valve, voltage, amps l, frequency, normal open or close. They may look the same by can be different. Luke an sti and Wrx. The body is the same, but spec are different.

Have there been any reports of these being impossible to tune? Any failures? The one that is currently on the site looks to be as solid, if not more so than the Cobb 3 port. Motive Autowerks is looking to be my choice in 3 port, but I don't want to fall into the trap of judging a book by its cover.

I know that we've shipped a fair number of them (like 150 or so). There's a few reviews out there on them bouncing around.
