Good Morning Everyone,

Another day, another week... work, work, and more work. Recap of my weekend:

Saturday 9/13: Met over at Total Performance (Todd's work place); had a great time meeting up with everyone. John, it's good to see you again. Keep in touch more often... Carl and Brett, thanks for the Oil Filter. Todd, thanks for stepping up to the plate, see ya around at LW... Midway; was great as usual, watching cars go by and just hanging out trading ideas and learning a few things or two about Subies and cars in general.

Sunday 9/14: AARRF event, I was supposed to meet up with the group at Mervins by 7:30 but, over slept and didn’t make it out with the caravan. I hit up undependable mapquest and found my way there. Fuji and Lou, sorry for making you guys get up way early.

Had a blast at St. Cloud… only 2 disappointment FIRST one is the newbie didn’t get to run until a little after 2. I was able to get three runs, which included 3 to 4 lap per run before I had to leave for the day. I’m sure those who stayed later were able to get more run. Matt thanks for the tip on the Belt, that really helped out on my 3rd run. Enrique thanks for the line. Chong, thanks for the Helmet. Matt, thanks for offering yours as well. Next season, my wife wants a shot at running as well, she’s hooked LOL.

My SECOND disappointment is, my Camcorder claims to be recording all day but turns out, nothing was caught on tape ARGHHH… Found out it was the tape that we used.

Well, it’s early here at work and I must get on with all the System patches and Radia Server problems.

Signing off,

2 Slo 2 Go Vic

from AARRF, message from my a friend on another forum: "All of you who left early, you missed out on the best thing I think I have ever seen at an AARRF event. During the last race one of the highway patrol people got into his car and came around the track with the cherries and sires going TRYING to catch up to the people on the track. I think this should become a regular part of AARRF events."

Smile My Sunday!

Morning all:

Well I just wrote a long review of the AARRF event and I erased the whole thing as I was spell checking it.

Here is the short version:

Russ:

Dave was there, we were able to go out during lunch and I showed him some lines w/o even running on the track. We then were able to go out together and he was able to follow me and cut just about 2 seconds off his lap time.

The rest of the day:

My goal was to be the fastest AWD car there. I had some stiff compition for that since Mike with the black EVO was there. Now he has a bunch done to his car and here is a list:

JIC coilover
camber plates
brake pads
braided lines
vishnu stage 1
turbo back
reflashed ECU

The two of us went back and forth on fast times I ended up besting his 1:02:463 with a 1:02:239

I was very happy with the STI, and know there is way more time left in the car with suspension and brakes. I was also able to meet my goal as the fastest AWD car there. Just to keep this in perspective the fast 600hp mustang did a 58:5, so I have a ways to go to get there but at least I have a goal now.

Vic:

My recomindations to you IMHO would be to do do the following
as a light upgrade:

spec-c springs
rear adjustable sway bar (20-22-24mm)
heavy duty rear sway bar mounts
front & rear sway bar bushings
ALK

This will help the off throttle understeer which is present in the car in large amounts.

MORE LATER i HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO SOME WORK !

Matt, thanks a bunch for your input. Anything that'll help me improve my driving skill & car handling is greatly appreciated.

Missed the last part of the Impala going out on the track There will always be a next time.

Well, hopefully everyone gave Dave a bunch of crap for not showing up at Todd's when he was the one who wanted the Sat meet. Oh well, sounds like evreyone had a good safe time and it looks like Matt will be buying some more parts.

hey Vic since your look'n for some Snow fun Tires, check these out!

PERFECT!

AVS Winter
High-performance winter tire. H-speed rated.
235/45R-17 94H BW
$180.00 each

"Designed for the enthusiast, Yokohama has created a tire that will offer high performance grip and handling with exceptional winter traction. The AVS Winter features an asymmetrical tread design with large outside shoulder blocks to enhance high speed cornering ability, and smaller inside blocks to provide better water drainage, reduce hydroplaning and increase snow traction. Three wide circumferential grooves evacuate water quickly to maintain optimal handling. The combination of wavy sipes and large shoulder grooves further assist the winter traction by sweeping away the water and slush for maximum grip. Special “Snow Edge Grooves” located in the center of the tread are designed to provide a powerful snow grip. This combination of great qualities have produced the first winter tire worthy of being included in the AVS line."

Your very welcome, for all we know there might be another event in the works, besides I or we (AARRF) have a date with Mid-America, so if you feel you did not push hard enough at St. Cloud, you can definitely push harder at Mid-America, there is alot of room for run off.

If your a Biker like Matt, you can come too, they have a full scheduled for all kinds of events.

I was there last March when my exhaust camshaft blew-up my motor while at 8000rpm taking the corners from a 03 Viper.

So for those of you who just got your feet wet, this is the place, if your gonna mess up, do it here, cuz you will have room to run

Hello MN group,

I am in Big Lake and just purchased my first Subaru, an 04 STI. Love the car, handling, power, etc. Look forward to speaking with everyone in the future and helping out when I can.
