Hmm I think you have it bass ackwards
02-03 springs should fit with your rear tophats - the tophat bolt locations are different (so they don't swap) but the spring diameters are the same For 04-07 neither the bolt pattern nor the spring diameter are the same (the 04-07 rear springs are tapered) so you can't directly use either combo You can slot / redrill holes to make it work - and one or two folks have made 'hybrid' tophats to fit the later springs to the earlier tophats - but the easiest solution appears to be to find some early (92-94) Legacy tophats, which have the early bolt pattern with the small upper spring diameter http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=920116 Don't take my word for it though - search for posts by guys like jamal and Fred This is for the rear - the fronts should all be the same afaik.

Hi, thanks for this info, from what I have heard, the front top hats on my wagon will work with the wrx springs from 02-03 or 04-07 but not the rear. Hmm, well I am going to try to get ahold of some 92-94 legacy top hats so I can use the 07 wrx wagon springs. Are the wrx wagon springs the same like for stiffness from 02/03 and 04-07? I have two options to buy both the 02/03 wagon springs and rear top hats and the 07 wagon springs and top hats. |

04-06 STI bars sort of fit on a WRX....but the angle of the endlinks isn't great and can be a problem. 07 STI is fine.

Thanks Andy. I did buy a set of endlinks to go with the swap. I'll just have to look for another sway and make this one work int he mean time.

Im running a 24mm sedan sway in my 04 wagon with whiteline spherical endlinks and I just used a bunch of washers to make everything line up right, if that helps. Do your guesstimiations with the wheels on the ground or on ramps where the suspension will be static, this will be no problem because you have to have everything static to torque he bolts down anyways. Kartboy sells spacers for this. Home Depot/Lowes sells spacers, SAE though. You can bore out some of their nylon ones and probably be fine. I just get all my hardware from mcmaster.com so if you want the perfect spacer go there... But dude, washers are fine. Make it happen.
I did not know the 07's were different and would fit better, damned it- whats the difference in length/fit? edit: haha I looked up my sway, its an 02-07 sedan/07 STi bar. Guess im in the clear. My rear is 04-07 STi, thats what I was thinking of when I was posting. I still had to use a few washers to make the front endlinks straight though. Last edited by relliMmoT; 03-10-2010 at 04:14 AM. |

So with the whiteline endlinks and some spacers I should be able to make this 05 bar fit in front? I too was wondering why teh 07 was a different fitment than the 04-06 sti's. Where did you guys find this info?
edit: is it the 05 sti bar will be too long or too short? Last edited by jasonspeed; 03-11-2010 at 02:55 PM. |

The 07 STI uses WRX front control arms, not the STI Spec C ones on 04-06 STI that add some caster. The bar is a little narrower i beleive on the 07.

These seems like the right place to be asking this, please bare with me.
I have a 2009 Impreza Hatch 2.5i and would like to stiffen up the the stock super soft suspension a bit. Its NOT a track car by any means, its a daily driver but I do drive aggressive. Ive already purchased a rear sway bar kit for it(needs it badly). But Im undecided on springs. I was looking at these from Cobb or perhaps these from Rallitek. Im not looking just to "slam" the car or anything of that nature. I would really like to stiffen up the suspension a bit. Get rid of some of that extreme tilt I experience when cornering and squat when taking off. Ive heard about using the wrong springs damaging ones struts and read on these forums about the wrong springs f-ing up the suspension geometry. So I figure to ask prior to purchase. Thanks. |

I would definitely recommend the Prodrive wagon springs then. Great wagon specific springs you wont need saggy spacers for, and they definitely dont slam the car but they take away the killer wheel gap. Theyre an incredible mix between daily driveable and trackable. Ive got them on my 04 wagon. I rode them on stock struts for a while before going to kyb agx and i did not blow them. I autox and commute with my wagon.

They will work, will be stiffer, but don't really do much for height. If you're looking for a change in height, I'd say look for something else.

Question:
I have a set of KYB AGX (02-3) with the TIC spacers to use with a set of JDM STi pink springs (04+, from an 05 STi) and Group-N Top hats also from this 05 STi. Will it work together? I have searched and it seems like the spacers might help in compatibility but it doesnt specifically mention them. Many thanks. |

It will all work. Just don't forget the put the spacers in before you install the rear tops.

heres my debate. i know the 04 wrx struts/springs/tophats will fit my 06 forester. will the 04 sti's fit? and if so which one would be lower and or better ride quality?

Shouldnt be any fitment difference between WRX/STi for a particular year. The ride however, not too much stiffer but a good difference. Its really not going to lower you all that much either. Would you lose camber having that forester? The sedan setup on a wagon type chassis loses camber. You can search for any of these answers real easy man.

Struts 93-01 Impreza struts fit all body styles. Koni Inserts (not a complete strut, see here for install http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1219607) 4. Ohlins Fixed Perch Struts 5. STi Version 1 to 6 6. ??? Using any 02-07 Impreza struts result in certain issues that can technically be corrected. 05+ STi struts will not fit. What do you mean by Using any 02-07 Impreza struts result in certain issues that can technically be corrected. Ive been searching on here all day and have come to the conclusion they will bolt straight onto the front, but I will need to modify the rear top mounts to get it to fit. Will I need to modify they hub mountings at all? Looking at putting 2005 WRX complete strut/spring top hat take offs on my 98 Forester. Thanks, Jason Last edited by dd9ucx; 04-16-2010 at 10:57 AM.
