I shift sorta without the clutch, just start to push it, pull gear out and slam it in the next gear as I'm lifting off. Most of the time it doesn't grind.
If any of you guys need some clutch and shifting lessons, hop in my dumptruck. It has a 5 speed main box and 4 speed auxiliary (20 forward speeds, 4 reverses). I'll throw 25,000lbs of wood in the bed and you'll be running some gears.

Start off in 1st gear on the main box, 1st on the auxilary, then 2nd, 3rd, 4th, then 2nd in the main box, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc... by about then your doing 12mph. Did I mention neither transmission has syncros so your have to match the revs?

10 mins later you finally hit 65 and then some retard in a Winnebago is in front of you doing 42mph and you have no chance in passing.

Oh yeah, and you have to downshift to slow down, the brakes alone aren't going to stop it very fast.

Anyhow, I'll see if I can shut down a bit early and roll out, I put on some new tires yesterday.

this is what I'm wondering, its only a mention in the top link and not even in the 2nd....

according to IHRA Rulebook I shouldn't have to have one. Why? because they don't even cover completely stock vehicles....guess with the single mention they do require everyone to have a helmet

I can't think of any race event I've ever been to that didn't require a helmet.

When I used to race my truck at the drag strip a few years ago I had to wear a helmet.

I stayed a bit late to get enough wood cut that my guys can work without me being there so I'll be at the drag strip.

right about that..... some of the expense bills ive seen already sicken me, not just that government pays out that but that the service provider charges because its government funds.

Yeah... I just realized that. Honestly I know it's June and that's about how close I follow days or dates Oh well, I have plenty of crap to work on at the house so I didn't work extra yesterday for nothing.

I won't be out of clinic until after 5. I will head that direction afterwards. Hopefully that won't be too late to get entered. I'll check this thread throughout the day between cases for updates.

For those of you going or thinking about going:

Tech inspections start at 5pm.

Races start at 6pm.

Gates close at 9pm.

Also note long sleeve shirts and pants in addition to a helmet are required if you want to race.
