Default n00b question...totally lost in the forum

Ok, I've TRIED to read around the forum some, but I'm throughly confused...(I need to stop hanging out over on LS1tech, ) I guess what I need help with is, where are THE basics as far as explaining, exactly what UTEC is (I've gathered it's a piggyback so far), what paramitors you can control with it (boost on a stock turbo, injector and maf scaling, timing, ect). Also, I'm assuming that you use the logs to note where the motor is in knock, adj the cells in the reference as well as try to nail down the A/F with a WBO2? A buddy who has a 98 trans am was showing me how he tunes his, logs with HP Tuners. Of course that program also contains a OBD II scan tool for all GM OBD II vehicles and actually uses the GM factory computer and reflashes.

So that's another question, is there anything like that for the WRX that uses the factory computer, reflashes, scans, ect (ECUTek if I've read and gather correctly??).

HELP! I'm soooo confused around here still. But it's a good confused.

Read the UTEC manual a lot of info there http://www.turboxs.com/utecwrxupdate.htm

Modifying the stock ECU yourself you can use Accessport with street tuner or the free tools at openecu.org which allow for tuning and logging.

If you want to get the stock ECU reflashed professionally either go to a tuner with street tuner or get a ECUTEK reflash and custom tuning.

Mick_the_Ginge's tuning guide also rocks. http://www.wrxhackers.com/modules.ph...p=getit&lid=60

I was going to write more, but Mick pretty much tackles everything concisely.
