Exclamation Please help!!!

Today I was driving to work, and my car was acting as it should. I was on the highway for about 10 miles, and when I went to pass someone to get to the off ramp I noticed my car had a drastic power loss. I got to work and hoped it was a glitch of some sort, and hoped it would be fine on the ride home. It wasn't. Now my car feels like it has the power of a 94 civic. It still accelerates and gets to to highway speeds, but it doesn't do it like it should. There is no kick to it. I started noticing a "whine" type noise last week, I don't know if that is related. Also yesterday I put some stp oil treatment in the engine, but the car ran fine afterwards all last night, and also ran fine 95% of my was to work. Also the exhaust seems louder, please help!?!?!?
Car has maddad whisperer catback, invidia divorced dp, invidia up pipe, spt intake, and Cobb ap. car is a 2005 wrx wagon

Seized turbo? No boost=no power. Squealing noise was the turbo eating itself?

Agreed! If you were hearing an abnormal squeal before , that could have very well been the turbo whine of death. The fact that there is no cel with that kind of power loss points to this as well.

Would the turbo still spin? Because I was about to say if its seized, maybe you could tell by not hearing a turbo whistle.

Do you here an almost whistling noise when you try to get into boost? If so you might just have a rather large vacuum leak. If you aren't making any boost then you likely fried your turbo.

The best way to diagnosis this would be to get some logs of the car and see if it's making boost (a boost gauge could do this too). You should also look into doing a vacuum leak test. Do a visual inspection of the engine and see if any hoses popped off or if there are any obvious leaks that you could repair.

Depends on how bad the failure is. If its seized, it won't spin at all, but chances are its still spinning and that is whats making the whining noise.

It is definitely possible for the turbo to blow with that many miles. You could check yourself by taking the downpipe off (or at least taking it off the turbo and moving it out of the way a little) and trying to spin the turbine. If it spins freely and there is no shaft play then your problem is somewhere else, but I bet your problem is the turbo...

check to see if your exhaust is still even bolted up. It might be just chillen there on the hangers but with no bolts or gaskets. blown turbo shouldnt make the catback that much louder.

Personaly it sounds like an exhaust leak. Maybe at the header or the uppipe. A preturbo exhaust leak will kill any chances of boosting it also makes a whinning noise. It would also explain why your exhaust is louder. Crawl under there and check the tighteness of your exhaust bolts also check the O2 sensors and the preturbo sniffer to make sure everything is tight and there are no leaks.

Never mind my post then. Most likely the turbo. Remove it and check the shaft.

I am thinking the turbo's exhaust side wheel probably ate itself and went out through the muffler. That would explain the noise as it was coming apart, and then the complete lack of boost. The exhaust would also be slightly louder with no turbine wheel in the turbo.

Either take off the downpipe like previously suggested to check if the turbine still spins or bring it to a mechanic if you're not comfortable doing it yourself. If and only if that's the culprit, you can start looking into buying a used/new one.

If it is the case that the turbo is gone, I would suggest that this is an awesome time to consider upgrading to a vf39.
