What are those jackstands that they use? And how do they work? I only saw a quick glimpse of them,

you have to install/weld pin receivers in the rocker panels, and the jack stands insert into them.

No. All these tiny 2-doors look like they belong in an Ali G movie.

Remember, there were other 4 doors out there today.

Higgins put up a great fight but you can't do the Joker first, too slow at the end.

Mirra should have gone the other way. Not right to push a teammate like that and it forced him to be too slow to make the jump so he stalled.

The chirping sound is the anti-lag system blipping the throttle to stay in boost.

No. Not even close.
It is not blipping the throttle nor is it a blow off valve , it is the air stalling against the compressor wheel while the throttle plate is closed.

They are not limited to 500 hp , most of them have upwards of 550 , they have a 45mm restrictor on them which limits the airflow .

It has nothing to do with the size , the Citroens are the same size or even bigger than the subarus.

There is no HP limit on rally cars. Forced induction cars must have a restrictor to limit power output, but NA cars don't require one

It was much better than last year. Pastrana driving with hand controls and a broken foot was impressive. Kinda glad Doran didn't win on Sunday, he seemed a bit too arrogant saying how easy it was on Saturday.

At least we beat Mitsubishi!!! 1 bronze to none. I remember the first x games rally cross had all types of different gen subies n EVOs. I would love to see something like that again, although it'll never happen cuz ford changed the game when they put a monster car with a plastic fiesta body kit.

There was one other odd thing I noticed from that interview. He put a Rockstar hat on, some TV person walked by, took it off his head, and walked away with it, and then he put another one on.

Mehinks that the organizers didn't want the sponsor hats on for TV, and that Deegan was well prepared for it.

It was probably that he had the wrong hat on. It looked like it was a normal Rockstar hat and not "his" hat - with Rockstar, Metal Mullisha, Ford etc logos on it.

I'm pretty sure both hats were identical, and the woman who took the hat looked like she was wearing clothing more likely to be worn by event organizers than by crew or otherwise affiliated with Deegan.

I think that's the first time I've ever seen a hat involuntarily removed by someone walking by during an interview during any race and not replaced. I've seen them go on randomly, and I've seen them changed randomly, but never simply removed.

I'm amazed they let him race like that. As he climbed out you could see that his toes were completely uncovered. No other sanctioning body would have let him in that car in just a bare cast with open toes. He'd need to have it all completely wrapped up in Nomex and potentially with a closed toe cast as well.

Yes indeed. The cars Subaru USA have been using for the GRC and X-Games this year have been built to ERC Division 1/Supercar specification (or thereabouts) so, with a 45mm restrictor in place, they are putting out around 550 BHP and 550ish ft. lbs. of torque. As has been said already, many of the cars built for the ERC are capable of delivering a lot more power if run unrestricted.

Last year Subaru were using tweaked rally cars for the Super Rally at X-Games. You can't expect to ask for 50%+ more power from the engine (and run it through the existing drivetrain) without major problems, hence why Pastrana blew up before he even started last year and why Isachsen lasted less than a lap.

This year the GR Imprezas for GRC/X-Games were specifically built for rallycross, with the engines also designed with rallycross rather then rally in mind.

I only discovered it just prior to X-Games XVII, but Subaru USA have also been taking advice from Per Eklund with regards to transmission and engine setup to try and get the cars competitive. I think it shows as the Subaru's looked way more competitive then they have in previous years when compared to the Fiesta's (despite them failing to get a podium in the rallycross this year).

Yeah! After I saw the story break (pardon the pun) with regards to his ankle on Friday I was questioning whether he would try and get in a car for rallycross, but I was unsure if he would be allowed on safety grounds. Full props to Pastrana for driving in his condition though. Amazing they even got the car going for him, let alone put the sort of times in that he was doing!

Massive disappointment from Block again. The guy seems to have an incredible amount of bad luck when it comes to reliability. Having said that, it seemed an odd time to debut his (rather pointless) new car. Why not stick with one of the tried and testing MSE rallycross Fiesta's?

Interesting to read that comment. Doran has polarised a lot of rallycross fans in the UK, as its been a while since we had a serious contender for the European Rallycross Championship (and now X-Games as well), but his attitude in the past has put a lot of people off supporting him.

I've yet to see the full coverage, but the interviews I have seen don't seem to have come across very well. He can clearly drive, but I think he needs to mellow a bit.

Overall though, from what I've seen of it this year (I'm still trying to find a download of the full coverage! ), I thought it was vastly superior to last years chaotic "rally" (I use the term loosely) on Saturday and rallycross oval last year. I hope (Euro-style) rallycross continues to grow at X-Games - and in the US in general.

Assuming raw power, talent, etc... I agree.

I had to watch a few replies to not be disappointed in Tanner. But I think he just over cooked it on the brakes and Doran was right there at the wrong place. I don't believe Tanner booted Doran on purpose. Considering their battles I interpret it as both just being VERY aggressive... and two masses cannot occupy the same place, same time.

With regards to the crash I would point the finger of blame at Foust but, having seen his behavior in the European Rallycross Championship this year, I would call it bad judgment rather than an outright dirty move.

Foust did well to recover, its just a pity that the tight circuit didn't afford Doran much space to recover and continue.

I think that girl was part of Rockstar/Deegan's crew. She came over right after the Rockstar girls popped into the background. The same thing happened Thursday night when one of the Metal Mulisha guys, Jackson Strong, won Moto X Best Trick. He was doing the post interview and someone came and put a hat on his head, then handed him another identical looking hat, which he replaced the first one with. It had to have been the wrong size or slightly different with the Metal Mulisha logo like someone else mentioned.

Honestly, I just don't see why X-Games or any of the event organizers wouldn't let them wear sponsor hats when sponsors are a huge part of the event. If that were the case then all the driver suits and cars would have been blank.

They probably swapped hats out so they could give it away as a promo item to a VIP.

"Here's a hat that has Brian Deegan's Brosweat all over it."

Really enjoyed watching it this year. Loved it when it was free and subaru was the main sponsor, but with the way the sun was beating down yesterday, I was glad to be at home watching it

They should definitely do an article on the the cars. Seemed like those fords were so much more powerful than the STis.

No more than 50hp, but theyre smaller, lighter and shorter. The shorter wheelbase is so much easier to get rotation out of.
