Whos running nitrous on their subies?
I was wondering who’s running spray on their subies. More specifically the RS’s, but I would like to find out peoples opinions of nitrous on their cars. I’m sure spraying boost and spraying NA is different, but does it ever get boring? What are some common problems with Nitrous ? What kind of spark plugs did you use? What kind of shot? And Wet or dry?
Looking for some quick HP, and before I pick up a system just want to know if its right for me. Thanks V

Run a wet system.
Run 50 hp. Have fun...... Over 50hp, depending upon mods can start to get dangerous. Up to 80 "should" be safe. But if you can/or have a piggyback, you then can confirm safeness. And yes, its fun. |

I was running a Zex 50 shot on my 02 Bugeye and I blew all four pistons by accident 1 day prior to the 03 Nopis. Was at peak boot and floored it and of course the Zex is controlled by the accellorator looked in my mirror and looked like a locomotive smoke. Atleast I made it home. At first I thought it was a headgasket, pulled the head and found pieces of rings sitting on top of the pistons. All four pistons were broke right around the ring guides.
Was lucky it didnt do any other internal damage, changed pistons, con rods, bearings, sold the Zex kit for $100 and will never go that route again. Traded the car in for the 04 wagon. Good luck with NOS. |

how were u tuned for the zex? was it wet or dry?

It was a Zex Wet system, installed in Birmingham. IMO use your $'s on internals, running NOS and it wont be long before you are doing a complete rebuild. I wish I had taken pics of my pistons afetr the overboost. I installed it myself, the directions were great the hard part was finding the correct throttle position wire that put the correct millivolts at the WOT position.

Anytime you run NOS with stock internals, if used often the internals do not last long. Safest way to run NOS is with NA engines or for forced induction is to put forged hd internals to compensate for the extra heat and lien conditions.

NO2 can be used forever on stock internals. Just don't run to much! Same as boost on an NA motor, just don't get greedy.

certainly can't blame nos for busting your pistons.... those engines can't hold crap for power with boost as it is....
much less with nitrous... |

You are right, you can use NOS forever on stock internals if you dont abuse it. How many guys/ gals do you know that run NOS dont go for every challenge they can and sorner or later it will take a toll on the stock parts.

here is how to do nitrous the proper way.... read my post!!! I wouldn't worry as much on a 2.5L turbo vs. a 2.0L turbo..... 25% larger engine makes a big difference... and USDM EJ255 engines are known to hold 380-400WHP pretty easily... can't say that for the 2.0L USDM turbo engines..... Any plugs that aren't platinum. You might want plugs with a smaller gap. If you're gonna run it at the track with 100 octane or whatever, you might be able to get away witha dry shot.

Run non-platinum spark plugs, NGK R plugs that are number 7 heat range..... they are $1.50 each!!!! HA!!
Run a .028-.030 gap and change your plugs every 20,000 miles or so RYNO |

I run a wilson manifolds direct port wet nitrous system with an 87.5 shot. No troubles as of yet. And i'm very happy with it. I will be building my bottomend to take a very large shot soon. I don't understand why so many people are scared of nitrous.

i run with a nitrous express wet shot no more than 55, exactly what everyone else says, don't get greedy, its fun, the power from a button is amazing and you'll put them rexs down hard haha, oh and i have HKS plugs and magnecore ignition wires i have not noticed a sputter, knock, jerk, or hesisiation throughout the past year, then again i use it only about 2 times a week.

NX Import EFI wet kit with 50hp jetting here.. make sure you get a kit with good solenoids like the Import EFI kit from NX. It comes with the larger solenoids which are less likely to leak nitrous (bad juju) and can flow a lot more nitrous than the ones offered in their other kits.
I had a "hitman" kit and the solenoids looked like a mini Oreo next to a regular Oreo compared to the solenoids in my Import EFI kit. Just read up about nitrous and make your decision after educating yourself. I was searching for almost a year before I bought my kit and I asked a million questions. Clark from Kingpin is VERY knowledgeable in the world of Nitrous.. so give him a holler. goodluck! I'll post pics of my rotated setup install + nitrous install soon. -alan |

Before I boosted I went Spray. I sprayed a max of an 80 hp shot and had no problems. Went from 16.6 best EVER to 14.8-14.9 consistantly. Ran a wet system.
I am going to spray again, but am going to have to redo everything since I am currently running 14.5 without N02..... |
