Default URGENT: Oil pan Removal

Spent 3 hours to take out the rear 4 bolts of the oil pan. All the bolts removed but the oil pan won't drop. I've read everything from exact-o knife to beating it to crap with a hammer. It just won't drop. I don't have a hoist.
2003 Subaru Impreza RS.

I spent 6 hours from 11PM-5AM on trying to just remove it. Can someone PLEASE help?

Use a razor blade to cut all the way around. Use a screw driver on a corner to pop it up by sticking it in the space between the block and pan and turning the handle of the screwdriver. Make sure that you have every bolt out too. Be careful not to scratch the block when turning the screwdriver. Another thing you might try is smacking the side of the oil pan with a rubber mallet to break the seal. It can be a pain but it will come off. Before reinstalling the pan make sure to clean the mounting surfaces of the block and the pan completely or it wont seal right. Good luck man.

Then when you go to reseal it, use some quality sealant like Hondabond HT, or Yamabond.

Don't go cheap here, unless you really like taking your oil pan off again to fix a leak

The passenger side can fit a knife into it but it cannot cut around towards the drivers side. I have no idea how to cut around the left side as there is no room to manuveaur. This is killing my whole body....

Don't be afraid to make that oil pan your biotch. Just be very careful not to bend or scratch the edges. Also, try not to damage the oil pickup when you pull it off. You have to maneuver the oil pan around the oil pickup.

Yeah its a pain. What I did on mine was remove the oil filter and just pry it off from that corner there. It took some time, but it eventually popped off (though there were a few marks on the block in the area I was prying. It hasn't leaked in over a year though, so I think its fine).

The easiest way to get the pan off the oil pickup is once the seal is broken on the pan, you should have enough room to loosen the three bolts holding the pickup to the engine. Some say this isn't necessary, but I couldn't find a way to do it without doing this first (keep in mind, I didn't jack the engine up off the cross member like most people do. If you do this step, you may be able to remove the pan without loosing the pickup)

all you should have to do is tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet. that simple. done 2 that way with no problems.

Where did you guys drill your oin return line on the oil pan?

I drilled it and welded it only to find out the frame was still in the way. I have to re-weld it and drill 1/2" lower or find a new spot. I drilled it at the opposite side of the dipstick almost at the same level.
