Default Just picked up a new 2007 WRX. Need help with spring options?

I need to put shorter springs on this car ASAP. The gap is just too much. The rear isn't that bad but the front sits up about an inch higher. I need springs that lower it more in the front.

What springs should I go with? I don't want it to have that slammed look. I just want to get rid of some of that gap. I could actually live with the rear. It's the front that is just too much to take. Should I buy them from the dealer and have them do the install?

Will I need an alignment after the spring install?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Pics with different springs would be great.

I did speak with a guy at a place called ProImage Performance. He said I should go with H&R springs with a 1.6 drop in the front and 1.4 in the rear. That would still leave the car sitting higher in the front. Also, I'm a little worried about them working on the car. Would I be better off buying the springs from the dealer and having them install them?

i'm not sure if you have a sedan or wagon, but prodrive all the way. lowers the front and it's not slammed. there's still gap, but it's very even.

i got an alignment after a few weeks to let them settle.

i had prodrive springs on my wrx sedan.... looked sick.... everyone always commented about how good the drop looked. Not slammed, just suttle, def. removes that gap you are talking about. Plus, prodrives are designed to work with your stock struts.... so ya.... get em... you wont regret it.... and yes, after they settle get an alignment. Also, if you dont do them yourself, dont let some shop charge you an arm and a leg for it. They were quoting me out of the chilton haynes manual or whatever it is at 6 hours of work, when in reality, i took it to the subaru dealer and got it done in 2.5 hours and alignment and an oil change using synthetic for under 400 bucks. Oh, and here, i dug up a pic of my old car. ......

So ProDrive springs are the way to go? How much do those springs drop the front and back? Also, where can I buy them? Will the dealer install springs I've purchased from some other place or will I need to buy the springs from them?

Also, what are pink springs? Sorry but this is my first Subaru WRX and I keep seeing people talk about pink springs.

Thanks for the help.

I found a place that sells them.

Did you guys align your car to the prodrive recommended specs?

Front
Camber 1***176; 15"
Tracking 0***176; 02" (0.2mm) toe in each wheel

Rear
Tracking 0***176; 01" (0.1mm) toe in each wheel

BTW, I have a sedan.

FYI...the front and rear sit at the same height....level with each other. Don't let the difference in gap height confuse you.

I would go with Prodrive, SPT pink, etc.

I don't recommend taking it to the dealer, you should go to a well known subaru shop or even just a nasioc member who is good at working on cars. Then again some shops really do charge more than stealerships, I was quoted 960 dollars for installation of coilovers not including alignment, I asked if he thought I was buying coilovers from them and he said no...

ya, that is why i took mine to the dealer. everywhere wanted an absurd amount of money. As this guy said, if you dont want to pay, i am sure you could find a few locals that would help you put them on for food and beer. I didnt have a local do mine because i dont like people working on my car that i can't hold accountable if they mess something up.

pinks are the spring SPT sells. I tossed around the choice of prodrives over pinks and ended up getting pinks. from everything i researched, i've come up with, if you're more interested in looks go for prodrives because they lower more and level, but if you're more interested in handling, go for pinks because they don't lower as much but handle a better

Thanks guys! Lots of great info.

I spoke with the dealer and they want twice as much (about $800) as ProImage Performance. That dealer price includes the springs. I don't know if that includes an alignment. ProImage suggested H&R Springs but I think I'd rather go with the ProDrive springs. I'm pretty sure they'll install whatever springs I want.

So how does replacing the springs affect the warranty if I have ProImage do the job and not the dealer? I'm thinking of using the dealer with the pinks just to keep everything covered.

With stock struts, I've heard prodrive was one of the best options. Stay away from s-techs! They will gobble your shocks up for dinner! I'm pretty sure if you get the parts put on by someone that isn't a licensed genuine Subaru parts retailer and installer, it will void your warranty. I'm not sure though because my vehicle was out of warranty when purchased.

I did my spring install myself in about 2 hours in the driveway. A reliatively easy DIY mod. If you really inovative you can do the alignment too, but your better off having a shop do that...

i have the pinks and think they are great...the car is def lower but not too much where it becomes a pain to drive...i don't know if the pinks spt sells are the same as the jdm pinks...when i bought mine in 04 the jdm pinks were different from the spt pinks...but that may have changed...anyway here is a pic.

Yeah it will void your spring warranty. And since they are aftermarket springs it doesnt really matter....They wont effect the rest of the warranty...

Cobb, I put a set of the cobb lowering springs on my 07 and there just perfect. Think the drop is 2.0 in front and 1.5 in the rear. Think it made the car ride better too. Spring rates are more matched for the stock damper rates

Nice car! I like the old front end better. So you don't mind the front having more gap then the back? So you've got the SPT Pinks? Did the dealer do the install?

Maybe I'll do it myself. What tools do I need? Is there a good how to posted here I can use?

Should I take it to the dell for the alignment? If I go with the prodrive springs will the dealer use the recommended prodrive settings?

Need to find a good shop in the Portland, OR area.

The SPT Pinks are pretty much STi springs. I was going to get the Pinks, but the STi springs are cheaper and the same thing.

Use the search function and I'm sure you'll come up with a walthough. The install is very easy, the hardest part for me was unbolting the strut from the break lines and that nonsense under the car. You most likely don't need a spring compressor for wrx springs, but I would just rent one or borrow one anyway. But overall, it isn't a hard install, you just need to be patient and take your time and make sure everything is where it should be.

That's the route I'm planning to go.

Performance > aesthetic drop
