I've been port and polishing heads for motocross bikes for years, my wrx spun a rod bearing so everything is apart. I figured what better time than to port the stock turbo which I'll use for another 4 or so months till I pick up a 20G? after a lot of man hours, I have the exhaust housing 90% finished. the exhaust inlet is all finished but the exhaust port still has some work to be done. I couldn't finish it because I ran out of supplies so I'll need to buy more in the next few days to really make this thing pretty! also found a crack on the waste gate hole which will need some attention before this thing goes back into commission. the intake housing will definitely get some attention once I get more bits for the die grinder. hopefully i see at least a minimal amount of performance gain from this itty bitty thing. here's some pics!

Not bad looking. I wish i had pics of my old VF30 that was ported & polished from deadbolt many moons ago.

That looks awesome. I have seen dyno charts that show port and polished td04's adding ~15 HP.

that's great! I wish I had specs telling me how large to make the intake. I think since it's such a small turbo that the bigger the better. but we will see what I end up going with

nice. it looks good. i ported and polished my td04 also. i think i went larger on the turbine inlet though. i made mine 2" roughly and i didnt touch the outlet, i didnt see the outlet netting much results. also have my compressor side ported and polished. i noticed good results. but i also did an up pipe at the same time.
out of curiosity, what bits are you using to port and polish with? |
