Help me with my gauge install, Defi BF in 05 STI
Ok, so I am going to get a set of Defi BF gauges that match the STIs oem cluster. The BFs are in a word "perfect" for this. I think I am going to get the EGT, oil press, and boost combo pack. I also really want to get oil temp. The problem is this 4th gauge. I think I am going to put oil press, oil temp, and EGT in the Defi hood that replaces the clock. I would love to put the boost gauge in a pod mounted on the steering column like the stock boost gauge but I cant seem to find one that will hold a 60MM gauge.
Somebody recommended that I get a stock boost gauge but I dont even consider it an option. I have NO respect for the stock boost gauge, its accuracy, or its looks. I could be convinced to get a different gauge brand for boost and use one of the many available 52mm pods but I really want everything to match. I wish Defi made a 52mm version of the BF boost. If not a 60mm Defi then which boost gauge should I get? It must match the sti cluster and be accurate. If I were to use a non Defi 52MM gauge I would most likely use a auto-meter Gauge Works gauge bezel (Pictured below) and put a wideband O2 on the other side. I like the looks of the Gauge Works gauge bezel but I am worried about the quality, fit and finish of the product. Does this need painted? How well do they fit? Do they look stock? I am 100% opened to better ideas. Does anybody have any ideas? Gauge Works gauge bezel:

Looks interesting but I am not sure that I like it very much. Thanks for the response though.

Tom,
If you don't like the stock column mounted boost gauge, I'm selling the complete column-mounted kit (minus the "T" for the bpv line, but includes the steering column piece) with a 45mm Omori mechanical boost gauge in the stock boost gauge's place. It has the red needle/red backlight. Here are a couple pictures; -Mike- |

Regarding the 4th gauge, you could possibly place it on the center vent, with the vent panel modified/replaced of course:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609935 As for the bezel replacement pod, have you perused through this thread below? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=667454 It may help answer some of your questions. |
