I've found my niche - bombing.
Put me in control of a bomber (and eventually heavy bomber! Lancaster here I come...), and ground troops don't stand a chance. I even had a triple kill using my tail guns to take out three chasing biplanes. |

As a side note, at the moment they only have to servers set up - on in the EU, one in Russia. Once they start getting more North American players, they'll set one up over here as well.
The pings suck, but you learn just how much you have to lead pretty fast. |

How much to purchase the planes? I see they are on sale for 80% off at the moment.
Looks like it has potential. Will have to try. |

The Lancaster heavy bomber, for example, costs $442,000 with thr 74% discount. Add on another $340,000 for the crew training, and $24.5k every time you need to restock it after crashing/getting shot down...yeah. I assume the higher level battles pay much better, because I'm only making 3-5k a round, maybe more if I get lucky. If they don't, I'll stick with fully upgraded low-tier stuff. |

Could be cool; I'll check it out. It's not actually World of Warplanes, though, right? Has anybody tried an Xbox controller?

Sounds expensive. I am not a fan of pay-to-play games.

The game has an easy learning curve if you play with "Simple Mouse Control" enabled.
I've been playing for about a week now and its pretty entertaining. Its not intense like BF3, but its pretty addicting when you try to level up and get new planes. Should we start a user list? |

I fear I may be getting old. Short form, non-twich games are where it's at.
Also, I apparently haven't played any sort of flying game in some time, 'cause I'm all like "rivets! scratches on the cockpit! WEEEEE!" Come to think of it I guess the only one I put any real time into was SWOTL. |

I have been playing this game for months without paying squat. You don't really have to do much grinding to enjoy it or spend money. The only real point in spending money is to gain rank/experience faster or to purchase planes you can only get with eagles.
For the most part the Eagle only planes aren't all that superior. If you do want to spend money the starter packs are the way to go. |

My Logitech 3d Extreme Pro works just fine. Though I have heard the xbox 360 is way too twitchy.
Also, while the pings to Russian and Euro servers aren't great the net code works out pretty well. You shouldn't notice much warping around or too many missed hits. |

Meetings / Lunch.
I've had it since open beta. I've probably put in like 5 hours total playing time. The flight model is actually surprisingly good but not too tough. People were HORRIBLE and I climbed through the ranks pretty fast. I already have an F4F Wildcat. Graphics aren't bad. Still... MMO = blech. I'd rather fire up IL-2 and play a nicely scripted single-player mission. If it's not free any more, I'm not exactly interested. |

... oh, and also, you're basically painting a twitchy bullseye on yourself if you fly a fighter with a mouse and try to dogfight with people with joysticks. Like literally. Don't even freaking try it.
Buy a $30 Saitek AV8R and call it a day. Oh, good. I mean I'd pay like $8 a month for it, but... not pay-for-planes model like Rise of Flight is (and the new IL-2 is gonna be). I'll save my cash for real sims. |
