Straight out of Philly for lunch is one of my favorites when I'm in town. Make sure you get cheese on the fries as well, sooo good.

It's a hotdog vender downtown. Her cart is on 3rd and E street (corner just across the street from rum runners) summer months though.

For dogs you cant beat the original dog cart. MA's i think, infront of the old courthouse/federal building. Across from 4th ave theatre.

Btw, for the best burgers, ill ammemd the club paris with Eagle River Ale House. Just had lunch there, burgers and buns were top notch. Id highly recommend them.

I've had those. I'm a Vienna Beef only kinda person, plus love italian.beefs and gyros. Finding a good gyro is always a challenge. Cut straight off the slab

You want a great gyro or falafel, go to Falafel King at Gambell and 9th. This is one of those hole in the wall places you'd never ex[ect great food from.

Also, The White Spot Cafe for halibut burgers. I don't know what it is about them but they sure are tasty. It's at 4th and "A".

And if you like fried chicken...Lucky Wishbone is where it's at...5th and Karluk.

Thai Orchid in the King plaza on Dimond. I've turned dozens of people on to that place. Not a single one has not raved about the quality of the food. Family owned, made to order same way it has been for over a decade now. We used to drive all the way up from Homer to eat there.

They have odd hours, close from like 2:30 till 5 or so, and it is a hole in the wall type of place with limited seating but their food is great. The place is usually pretty packed too but they do a jamming take out business too.

Though I will say I'm all about fresh ingredients and cheap places many times don't follow by that. I will consider giving them a try sometime in the future.

Pho Saigan was another I sometimes go to but they're kind of out of the way. Looking for something hopefully in midtown area.
The family at Thai Kitchen has been close to my folks since the 80's. I love their food It's a bummer prices went up but with the cost of ingredients and supplies increasing the last couple years, it was only a matter of time. But it has been years since Ive eaten there since they refuse to accept my money. So to get my thai fix, the wife and I goes to Thai Village off of muldoon.

I can recommend this place. I eat the halibut and fried rice there all the time.

I understand that prices need to go up because of cost. Though their previous low costs reflected the small portions of meat they gave. Now their prices are up and comparable to others in town but with the same small portions they've had. Some days I'll get a good portion but most days I do not.

Pho Saigan Tikatnu has given me great service and my moneys worth, it's just out of the way to get to.

I'm a big fan of their gyro pizza.

Their gyro calzone is humongous (a bit pricey though $24?) but it's basically a large pizza folded in half. You won't be able to eat the whole thing in one sitting.

And my favoritestests thing to eat there is their philly burger. It's amazing. Philly cheesesteak on top of a hamburger.

Their pizzas destroy Pizza Man.

Gone to Thai Orchid twice now and I'm hooked. Best that food I've had in town thus far and the portions are huge. Thanks Nomad for the recommendation.

Qwik I've been looking for a place for good BBQ and I know I've read before you were hunting down a place. Is this place opened all year? Cause I'm seeing on map it's way out of town. Anything decent that's more local?

What do people think about Brewhouse for Pizza? I've always been tempted to try but usually I end up ordering something else.
