Question Can I mount 225/35/17 Pirelli P7000 tires on 17x7 Konig Imagines?

Hi, tirerack.com says the minimum width for that tire is a 7.5" wide rim. Mine are only 7". Is this absolutely true or do you think I can get away with it? Thanks.

Has anybody ever mounted 225/35/17 Pirelli P7000 tires on a 17x7" rim? Come on, the tires get to my house today, and I want to know if I can do it.

Due to the shorter profile of the 35s, I think 7.5 is a must. I am no expert though but if I believe Pirelli (or in fact, any other tire manufacturer)
will require a slightly wider minimum rim size for tires of the same width but a lower profile.

You would have been okay if the tires were 225/45 (but you probably know that already).

I hope you understand 35 is going to make your overall diameter shorter than stock and will affect your gearing. This will mean you speedometer and ODO will be off.

225/45 and 215/45 are good sizes for a New Age Impreza. 40 series sidewall is good for a GC8 (Old Age) Impreza I believe, but don't quote me.

I have heard of mounting 225's on a 6.5" rim, but with a 50 sidewall. With a 35 sidewall, I'm sure the manufacturer is right. 7.5" minimum.

Yeah, actually the whole reason I want to run these tires is to change the gearing.

I think I remember Kenshiro wants to shorten his gearing for better off-the-line acceleration.

Yup, with a 50 sidewall, 6.5" should be okay (right at the minimum suggested width).
