Nah. I want it all.

Just push Subaru to design it to encompass both needs well enough. Now, if they promised to have "Tuned by STI" models other than THE "STI", then OK. I'll get a "Tuned by STI" Forester or Outback or something for the utility and fun car.

I just saw one of these on the road an hour ago. I had to do a double take, but it was the WRX for sure

Yes, it's orange sticthing too.

It's just a band-aid of a special edition. Nice that they're trying to make a special version, but I don't think they could afford a price hike beyond some paint of existing parts. A few more for the WRX and you're looking at an STi, and a few more for the STi is getting over 40K. We'd all love soemthing like an S-series, but no one would pay 70K for an impreza.

I already did

There is a LOT of hate for the SEMA STIs and WRXs on here. I guess they are not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I was considering buying an STI and painting it orange, so how much better if I can get one done right by the factory. I also love the black rims, side decals, and orange stitching.

Considering getting a like-factory paint job done to change color (on a new car) would cost you in the neighborhood of $8000, I'd say it's a good deal if you were definitely set on orange.

Then again, if you're buying a Subaru for looks and attention, you might want to spend that $500 on a few therapy sessions.

$8000 seems a tad extreme, but yes it would be pricey and silly which is why I was just gonna buy white like everyone else.

As for wanting a car that looks nice, I didn't realize I need therapy.

Yeah, not really sure what to make of this comment here... The current WRX/STI ARE lookers. Having owned one previously, I can attest that they're head-turners. I had mine commented on while in traffic numerous times by little kids to old ladies to dudes just cruisin'.

$8000 is an average price for an OEM-quality paint job. Which you got for $500. Good deal there. I personally dislike the black decals on the side; if you can take them off easily then I'd go for that orange.

I am one of five I have seen on NASIOC forums to have ordered one. So far 3 WRXs and one other STI. Everyone has been told May arrival.

Been looking at getting a 2013 STI, test drove one yesterday. Having the local dealer look into ordering one but, if not I'll just go for a regular one.

Just to clairfy, THAT comp orange was crap to the original color used on the '69,'70 models. The new color was not even close. Now the comp orange used on the new Boss is like the original, much more red.

The cars were allocated a long time ago. I would be pretty sure that the dealers that are getting one(or more) already know it. There is no ordering one unless your dealer is one that were allocated one. Then it's just a matter of securing it with a deposit(or whatever your dealer requires).

That's kind of what I thought(allocation) Aren't there some dealers that post on the board that would know?

Know what? Which dealers that get them? Well. I know that there are three in the Houston area and at least three in the Colorado Springs/Denver area(certainly more there).

I doubt dealers would know much more than how many are in their immediate area.

I don't know where you are at, but I wouldn't wait. Call ALL of the dealers in your area and find out if they are getting one. If they are, ask if it is spoken for. I think they will all be taken by the time they hit lots.
