On par with a well equipped SHO or Charger/300 SRT-8. Not saying I'd pay for it, the new Impala looks better...actually the old G8 GXP looked better too.

Now build a smaller 2 door version, 300lbs lighter, with a 6 speed manual, call it a Chevelle SS and offer it at $38,000.

Manual and higher 30's would have had me considering it next year when it had some rebates to get it into the lower 30's.
The bad thing is the high line of this with the supercharged V8 and manual will be in the 50's easy. |

I think the front view looks great. from what I can tell from the side view, it's a little bland. But I will have to say I am really digging that interior. Looks really nice, especially for a chevy. I will also have to agree with the others on the price range of high 30's or 40 even.

You're paying strictly for the engine. Way too much for not a lot.

It will be a very nice car I am sure, just not much fun without a 6 speed, and little bit of a let down on performance(due more to weight and size). But it will be a solid well built car(made by Holden not Chevy), where my WRX is more like a noisy thin sheet metal beer can(due to trying to save weight) on wheels.

I just don't understand a car like this.....it could have been so much more, even a DCT would have made more sense. I just don't see this thing selling that many units; GM will then stop making it and blame it on lack of consumer appeal.

Believe me I really thought they would have brought the GTO back, as say a Chevelle SS, with better suspension, the new LS3 or LT1 motor, and wider fenders(for better wider tires) would have made more sense then this. How many people who bought the last model Impala SS would want this mid to high $40K car? Not many...

So somebody who cares enough about GM tell me this.
Is this the EXACT same chassis as the G8 was? The interior is far better than the G8 interior was. This one has a bit of glitz. Still, 44k is too much money. When you get north of 40k, people start to look at that bowtie and think... For a Chevy that dies not say Corvette on it? I will hold out judgement for the reviews of how it handles. Not expecting much. |

Not trying to be the SS apologist, but... the VE chassis was well sorted, had some great composure through the twisties, and fantastic on the highway for short/long drives and commuting. If it wasn't for the craptacular roads bending my wheels all the time around here and more importantly - A-Arms as a wear item (which I beleive they fixed with the VF), I'd probably still have my G8. However, I do like the $$ I'm saving in car payment, gas and insurance (Snow tires + AWD and 5sp for *spirited* winter driving... the G8 was great on Conti DWSs for commuting back and forth, but it's no SUbaru on snow tires). --kC |

No matter what they do, they cannot overcome the weight issue, when you decide to transition from left to right quickly, that weight is going to be an issue.

Well that begs the question.
How much does it actually weight Certain cars are good at hiding their weight. (EVO and GTR come to mind) |
