These ebay only companies can sell for so low because they let somebody like APS pay for the tooling and factory costs, then quietly pull some of the kits off the line later to sell on ebay. The cost for a kit are not purely in the cost of the materials alone, it also reflects the cost of the factory line and tooling. Unless you make each one by hand, which *will* drive up the costs quite a bit.

i wont argue the fact that R&D is key in providing new prodcuts to the market. the problem here is that these companies are re-inventing the wheel with FMIC kits and marking them up. the only new development for them is pipe bending and a support bracket. the cores have already been produced along with the end tanks and therefore do not require much tooling at all in most cases. that being said i do not and wil not own an EBAY FMIC but in defense of everyone here looking for decently priced performance im offering "my opinion". i myself am going to source a used APS or perrin if i dont go the route of bending up my own setup. either way there will always be competition in the form of design theft which is something that cannot be prevented and will only get worse with the popularity of EBAY.

does anyone know how to make the fmic go lower? when i tried to reinstall the bumper the inside of the fog cover bumps into the piping. the four nuts on the side are already as low as it can be.

you have to notch it....outline where the pipes hit and just cut a pipe shaped hole..

A friend of mine has family in China in the manufacturing industry. There is a huge amount of product backwards engineering and remanufacturing at lower costs, and he said that is one thing they do. They can send over any part, and have it replicated, with cheap labor and resources. I wouldn't be surprised if this was going on not only in China, but other Asian countries like Malaysia or Taiwan.

As was said before, these intercoolers can be made with someone with a welding torch and a pipe bender. Very simple concept. The R&D and fitment was clearly done elsewhere... these new factories are just producing at a massively lower cost.

I've been saying the same thing to these youngsters for quite some time now. Atleast we know there are consumers out there with common sense.

EBAY Performance FTW!

I had the $1200 TurboXS. And I have the $300 XS Power. There is no difference in quality. IF there is, it certainly isnt $900 worth

that sux you paid for it so long ago .. i just answered an email i got. mine gets to my house on the 13th. the box is like 65 pounds yes i realize the site sez they are sold out, but unless they sent me a box of bricks, i got lucky. far as payin for a name brand one, well i'm ballin on a budget and wanted to save some $$ it's an intercooler, not like a turbo, pistons or something. it's like spending asstons of cash on a dp when you can get a helix/invidia. it's a bent pipe.. and it's not an ebay fmic, they aren't on there anymore
