Suspension lift
Do any of you know anything about lifting the suspension on the Baja? I'm toying with the idea right now. Not sure if I want to do it yet but I found a couple of kits. One of them on ebay that says it's easily installed with just hand tools and won't affect the handling. Here is a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-...41110003r38227 There's another one that has more parts and a bit spendier: http://alliedarmament.homestead.com/LiftKit.html Is there a really big difference in the way the two could affect handling and are they fairly easy for someone who is somewhat mechanically inclined? If I were to do something like that. I'd hate to screw up somehow and end up having to have my car towed to a shop to fix the mess I created. Anything else I forgot or should know? Thanks!

In a nutshell, the first kit appears to only lower the suspension by way of spacing blocks attached to the top of all four struts. If this is all it includes, it will put a little more stress on the angle of the CV joints. The second kit looks more like the one I installed. This kit appears to have spacers for the sub assemblies and a lengthened steering linkage as well as the strut spacers (this keeps the CV angles close to stock). I have not noticed any negative handling characteristics, and I have put about 40K on the truck since the lift was installed. Feel free to PM me with questions. Buck |

As for the AA kit, be sure to ask if the kit has ever been used on a Baja. Previously, (a few years ago) I was interested in their kit, but at the time, it would not work on a Baja due to the suspension differences in the rear end between it and the other EJ cars it is based on. Perhaps AA has gotten around to making the needed changes so the kit works on our cars. That would be great.
The other option is Scorpion. This is the only kit I have seen installed on a Baja. Quote:

Well, physics dictates it'd be easier to roll over your car, especially with stickier tires. Buck Rogers doesn't seem to have a problem, so it sounds like a non-issue.
