Default DCCD Failure Fixed/Important Info Shared

Yes my car is finally diagnosed and fixed. The problem was the DCCD failure light was coming on.This what they finally found wrong with the tranny and center diff, also these parts were not replaced they were picked up bySOA and fixed in New Jersy, stillwaiting for the rest after I tell you the situation.
1.The magnometer thing in the trannsmission, were the wiring connects, the 2
connectors were squashed together in Japan when the car was made,so there was not proper connection so sometimes it was in automode and others it was"nt.Leading to light going on and wierd drivind feeling(car in 2wd rear). They fixed this in SOA N.J..Bring back put in car ,drive car it still screwed up.
So SOA comes yesterday with 2 mechanics and brand new sti"s.They worked for 2 days side by side comparisons on the sti's.They are amazed they can not figure it out till finally they come accross it
2.Pin number 40 on the wirring Harness is diffective it is not connecting proper. This connects to the brain that connects to the center diff. This was deffective from Japan when car was made. They patch fixed for know. You can not get this harness yet,It is on VOA order(have to make special in Japan and shipped to my dealer. When it comes in the whole dash is removed and the whole wiring harness will be replaced.
SOA is concerned these promblems will crepe up in other cars made in April,May,June. All using same harnesses.
I am picking it up tommorrow.Matt

Thanks for the update - I was hoping it wasn't the actual transmission or center diff. Sounds like Subaru took good care of you.

Wow. So there was no real damage done to the diff/tranny? Just a faulty connection in the wiring harness? I guess that's a good thing! My car died when fuel injector 4 stuck wide open and flooded the engine. I didn't have it for a few days right at that magic thousand-mile mark and it drove me nuts. I can't imagine being without my car for a couple weeks (you posted the first thread a few weeks ago, right?).

Yep,I bought July 30,Aweek later it started acting up(thursday).Brought in service that following monday.Posted my situation that day and Glenn was the first to respond,I was wondering if it was safe to drive with light on.
Well I did not get it back yet and I am a little
nervice about them taking the whole dash and stuff apart to replace my whole wiring harness. It was driving these guys crazy. The 2 mechanics were going to New Jersy for training on the sti(school) and they brought it with them(tranny) so all the guys down there
could check it out cause there was no problems at all so far with trannies,so they opened it down there and discovered the connection in the connecter was not seating right it was pushing it flat instead of going (male into female) if you know what I mean.
so really I had 2 problems.Boy I was really missing my sti,I did not realize how much I love it/in only 450 miles. Matt
I hope I did not get a lemmon

Thanks for the heads up. Did they tell you which connector number it was? The connector at the DCCD computer or at the gearbox? (the way you said pin 40 sounds like the computer).

Granted these are totally diff. vehicles ,, however we had our 03 Expedition in the shop a while back,, because the wshield wipers stopped working they had the vehicle 4 or 5 days,, and had to replace about 15 POUNDS of wiring under the dash,, needless to say they scuffed up many things and got other stuff dirty......

As folks predicted in your original thread on this adventure, the problem was electrical and not mechanical.

Nice reporting and thanks for keeping us all looped on your cars progress.

No it was mechanical and electrical, sorry for
my posting(12 hrs work,4drivng long day)the magnometer(I have ask again)was defective in tranny,2 electrical problems 1 in tranny
other at the brain that controls the eletrical
center diff.Pin forty is at the box(brain) that controls center diff. These are super small pins like you would see in a Ham TRansciever or very modern stereo, they are (surface mount technology) thats why it can not be fixed at connector, need new harness
this connects to the box on one end,and just comes off the main wiring harness on the other,SO THE WHOLE CARS WIRING HARNESS WILL BE REPLCED,I am getting car today and will ask more questions cause I was a little out of it when I spoke to them yesterday. They tempoarily fixed it,several weeks to new harness, not available yet, will be made special order in Japan,VOA or something.Matt,10 days till I got loaner issued.Ya I know!!
