--------------------------------------------

I sold the car with a few miles driven on the new build. Due to recent job loss I had to part ways after spending a few grand getting it up and running ready for a new turbo setup.

I explained to the new buyer of the car to BRAKE IN the engine and drive it right for the first few thousand miles at low boost. The boost was set at 7lbs for breakin when I sold it, I told him to leave it at that until it was done being broke in... He did not.

200 miles or so into the break in period he (the new owner) managed to melt the BLUE GATES TIMING BELT off of the car and turn it black causing head damage... he then took it to a local mechanic who managed to put the cam caps on incorrectly.

A few days after the 17 yo high school kid ran the piss out of the freshly built engine...his father called me threatening to sue due to their ignorance...

A few weeks later I called the shop that the kid dropped the car off at and they told me that he attempted to have it tuned with a cobb access-port tuner... when the car originally had an open source tune on it that should have stayed for a few thousand miles to allow the engine to break in but apparently they did not care to listen. The mechanic also told me that due to the kid not breaking the engine in properly he had to replace a cylinder head due to improper break-in... so the current engine may have miss matching cylinder heads... one being built and ported and the other being a stock head.

This car has seen 3 owners sense I last owned it..

Sorry, but not breaking it in wouldn't cause those issues. Sounds like he drove the living piss out of it and did something else to cause the problems. There are different schools of thought on break in, some break it in hard the way they plan to drive it, others baby it. I've seen guys who break it in hard have no issues at all, while guys that baby it have engines fail early.

I know that breaking in engines is a touchy subject. I do highly agree to you that he did something other then drive it right... He did not even change the oil the 3 or 4 times every few hundred miles to get out any old scrap metal ...

I do know when I break my engines in I take it easy for the first few hundred miles an then after a few thousand increase RPMS to ensure that the cylinder walls seal well with the rings but in this case I believe he just ramped the boost back up and slapped a stage 2 or 3 cobb stock tune on it an was ripping it every chance he got... After I sold it he sold it a few months later then 2 other owners bought it after that... so there is no telling what the 3 kids did that bought it after me its sad really... vf46?? really? ...
