Default Advice on tuning and accessports

I have an 02 bugeye , I installed the TBE cat free, next steps are catless uppipe , sti top mount , CAI and Bov . Have most of the parts , rest soon to follow My question is do I go V1 access port or V2? whats the major difference for tuning my bugeye?

I also heard that I can just send in my specs and have a custom map made by Cobb ?

Any input would help and be appreciated !

Thanks !

Skip the CAI and BOV.

Go for the V2 AP. As for custom tuning, I don't think Cobb does any e-tuning, but a lot of people go with Torqued Performance.

Or get a pro-tune or open source tune for cheaper than an accessport and have better results.

As someone else stated, skip the cai and definitely skip the bov unless its a recirculated one.

v1 is slow as **** for map changes, and most tuners refuse to use them.

v2 is the way to go. as mentioned, skip the intake and BOV.

You'll get the same results either way. For the average user, the AP has far more utility than OS.

Getting a pro-tune on an accessport will yield the same results as if you got an opensource pro-tune, except you obviously don't get the benefits of using an accessport.

I don't think he was refering to Cobb's OTS maps, a pro-tune will clearly be better for your specific car than a general ots tune.

Huh, I didn't know that TP doesn't make maps for anything pre-08. Maybe they do, but don't have it on their website.

I think he means that V1 vs V2 AP's will yield the same results as far as the tune goes.

Cobb has ended support for the Accessport V1, FYI.

Get accessport if you plan on more mods. If you will not mod the car in the future just get an open source protune. No need for an accessport for one tune unless you want the features.

Protune is a protune, whether it's done via AP or OS.

No... he's saying OS and AP will have the same results, more or less.

^ There is no reason to get a V1. If you're that cheap, just go open source.

^^ this.

A professional tune will yield the same results (+/-) as a professional tune with open source, but you dont get the extra utility an AP provides.
