My fitment was perfect with the hard line. I know the cfm flow is high, I thought it was around 2000 cfm but not positive about that. It's more about the efficiency of the core than the cfm's. Your turbo will never outflow the IC, I believe a 35r flows around 900 cfm.

^yeah I heard the 2000 cfm figure, that seems crazy considering a high flowing Spearco flows 1000 cfm ! Does your TMIC have cast or fabbed end tanks?, studs? Do you have any pics mounted on the FXT?

Hey Guys,

Sorry, we didn't update the website. We have been shipping out cast end tanks for the last 4-5 months. This was an oversight on our side. I sent an email to our web guy to have him update the pictures and description on our website.

The reason for going cast was not to cheap out, it's actually about the same. We use a US foundry the quality is as high as it gets when it comes to castings. It's not a cost issue either, the US tanks cost a lot more to make than the competitors who use overseas castings.

The cost balances out except we can make more in a day to keep up with demand. The hand fab tanks are cheaper, but take longer to build. The cast tanks are more expensive but quicker to build. I'm sorry we didn't make this clear on the website.

If anyone is not happy with the cast end tanks we will gladly take back the units. I'm sorry it was not advertised correctly.

I can guarantee your going to receive the exact same performance as our hand fab end tanks. We include the same high density core that we used prior. The only thing that changed is the physical tank material, the overall dims are the exact same size. We had an issue when we first released the tanks where the blow off valve holes were slightly off, but that has been addressed and everything fits perfect! No need to bend the a/c line like some of the other units. Fits directly to the factory shroud so air is pushed through the intercooler and not around. This is one of the highest quality top mounts on the market fit and finish.

Again, we are truly sorry and we are updating the website right now. If anyone has questions they can email me directly at [email protected] or call me at 360-896-3000.

Thanks Michael,
We not only wanted the performance of your intercooler, but also the looks as well. Since this build will be a CA street legal swap we figured the bay might as well look as nice and clean as it possibly can. I know it sounds silly to some, but there's no reason why function and form can't go hand in hand.
Thanks for understanding.

Now, for my GT, I was considering your FMIC kit. Is that still fabbed/plate or is it/will it also be cast?
You mentioned earlier that there will be a newer WRX style fitment TMIC in the works. Would that also be cast? (I ask since I could use that on my GT).

Cast tanks, studs. Fits better than stock STI IC.

Notice the lack of space between my strut bar and the IC. I have a full mechanical STI conversion on my Forester and I removed the FXT front cross member spacers from between the unit body and the cross member when I did the 07 STI drivleine swap. They are 1.125" thick. I did this to mimic the STI driveline alignment exactly and the motor sits higher in the EC now.

Michael,
I will most likely install a FMIC in my XTI in the near future but unfortunately yours is taller 11.25" to 9.25" than say the Perrin and does not include a bumper beam replacement. I don't think your FMIC will fit my XTI very well. I wish you made a core that was 9is" high for the Subarus.

^^ Anything is possible. If you need a custom intercooler, we can build one only 9.25" tall w/ the same mounting brackets i'm pretty sure. we would just treat it as a custom job.

Those are hand fab still. We plan on moving to cast parts next year, but for now everything is hand fab in the FMIC department.

Here are a couple pulls from when I had my car tuned with the Killer B Holy Header w/ Tial MVR, VF48 and ETS TMIC on my stock EJ255. The blue is E85 and the red is 93 PG. Notice where my stock STI clutch let go, I think I would have made more power if not for the clutch. So the ETS TMIC works very well. We will soon see what it produces with the my new motor build and the Blouch 3.5XTR

^unless you have a chart comparing back to back TMICs this is not useful, as far as I am concerned you could have potentially made same power on a PW, Spearco, STi OEM TMIC, etc.

I would like to know from ETS the weight of the cast TMIC and how much it flows.

By back to back I mean this, click me.

I'm not going to compare anything for you, sorry. My graph just shows the power and torque that the ETS TMIC is capable of supporting with a VF turbo. If you don't find this useful, that's not my problem.

Dude, just pick one and run with it. All three of these TMIC's are very good quality and they can all be made to fit. The ETS seems to be the best fitting. I can't believe the frickin questions you ask, really! It's kind of a wonder that you get anything done on your car.

Sorry but I just couldn't help it

Thanks!

The price wouldn't change since i'm still using a 12" tall core and cutting it down. I can't say if it will need a bumper beam replacement or not, we can make it however tall you want though as a custom intercooler.

A fricking question asking how much a $1,000 part weighs, flows, and whether is cast or fabbed? This is a thread to discuss TMICs, pros and cons my Forester friend.

One of the guys said it above, but this intercooler is rated at 1950cfm. Thermally this intercooler are designed for 450whp-500whp.

The reason for the high flow rating (CFM) is due to the amount of charge rows and the amount of air that can physically flow through this intercooler. I wouldn't get caught up on CFM numbers on a vertical flow intercooler because the numbers never look right when converted into HP like a horizontal intercooler.

Thanks!

Michael

PS: To be exact

Hello Michael

Did is any fitment issue with a Cusco Strut Bar? Will work well or it's necessary to put out the Cusco Strut Bar?

FYI we managed to find a brand new "old style" ETS TMIC (score!). Such nice quality. Can't wait to have the whole build done so it can go on there.

Just curious of the following:
1) It seems that it is designed to only use 2 of the 3 mounting bolts for the breather line pipe.
2) Are there supposed to be studs for the y pipe portion, or just the bov?

Thanks Michael.

Yes, We only use 2 of the 3 mounting holes on the 04-07 STI TMIC. If I remember right it was because the 3rd hole was in the way for fabrication purposes. There is supposed to be Studs on the Y-pipe portion as well as the BOV.

We don't have any known issues with the Cusco strut bar. If you wanted to purchase it and it doesn't fit you can return it for full value.
