Default Weird tranny noise with new light flywheel and clutch??

I changed my factory flywheel out with an ACT pro light and then installed a centerforce dual friction clutch. The instant I drove it it felt great however it also instantly started to make tranny noise when I am compressioning down off the gas like either a bad bering noise or sycros just going crazy. As soon as I touch the gas it goes away. 2 days later the centerforce pressure plate exploded so I went to the Exedy stage 2 3 puck disk with matching pressure plate. It still makes the same noise. At first I thought is was the clutch but I now figure the flywheel does it cause it makes the same noise with both clutches. Anyone else have this noise after installing a light flywheel. I hope its only sycros whinning cause of the "less rotating mass" rather than maybe I found a bering problem when I lightened it up?

Any feedback would be appreciated
Bryan

It is the flywheel that makes the noise. Live with it or put a heavier wheel back on. It is because the gears have less to keep them loaded.

dude, dont be alarmed, i have an act flywheel as well, as well as a stage 2 act clutch, that is currently being replaced (seriously hands are still dirty). It has to be the flywheel, i even dropped my tranny to try and tighten the flywheel, I THOUGHT IT WAS LOOSE. But the torque was correct on all the bolts and it still does it to this day. The transmission was also replaced a year ago, that when all the parts went in, its started to make that soft grind after the new install but trust me... its RIGHT!! It might not be too healthy but its right!

The cost of doing business with performance parts is a compromise of NVH.

The noises you hear are totally normal.

A decrease in mass means a decrease in vibration damping. It's not the flywheel actually making noise, it's the flywheel making the noises that would be there anyway, more apparent. ANY lightweight flywheel will do similar things and make similar noises.

Thanks everyone. I can live with the noise as long as it's supposed to be there

Oh if you get tranny and engine mounts it will be even louder. To the point you can heard the main shaft spin down when your foot is on the clutch pedal.
